| Those are the concepts of the controls, yes - but they certainly were not ever that responsive. And when they did respond there was a significant delay compared to what there would be with a controller.

+26 Internets | I think it says a little something about the industry when 2 out of the 3 "next gen" consoles failed to match or succeed their predecessors six month sales figure. People reluctant to upgrade, why? Also, the console market, as a whole, is continually growing. What the fuck is going on? World of Warcraft has a hand in it, no doubt. |

| From left to right Price at Launch Wii $250 PS2 $299 Xbox $299 GCN $199 XBOX360 $399/$299 PS3 $599 With the exception of the abnormality that is the gamecube the lineraity of price to console sales is pretty consistent. Kind of puts it into perspective doesnt it?

+26 Internets | Eh, sort of. By the time Xbox and Gamecube came out PS2 was already an unstoppable beast, so they had a huge disadvantage. Kinda of like 360 now, only MS has so much negativity surrounding it, especially with a lot of gamers, it won't dominate as much as PS2 did since Sony already had a huge following from PS1. I think by the end of the year 360 will still be the highest seller by a few million. If Nintendo can meet demand and demand keeps up, well, I could be wrong. |

+35 Internets | The most surprising thing in this chart is how poor the X360 did compared to the Xbox. They had shortage issues during the first months though no? EDIT: Checking VG Chartz it seems it's because X360 completely failed its first christmas, but since then it is selling faster during the year and is now slightly ahead of the Xbox numbers after the same time (nb: that's considering only US numbers - Edit2: in Japan the X360 is still under Xbox number for the same timeframe).

| It's not such a failure to have slower starts than your predecessors, considering PS3's price and 360's price + shortages. It would just mean a slower start to the generation, except Wii is kinda sprinting out of the gate so it's a moot point how slow the other two are going. =) |

+12 Internets | I think Launch titles help as well. Xbox had a really strong launch title: Halo. 360..not so much. Wii Sports is an extremely powerful launch title. Which is funny given that you compare it to something like Halo, development costs and such, and it's a completely different ballpark. Nintendo knows how to make awesome shit. I just doubt it'll be the powerhouse the PS2 was, at least in the same sort of way. I still see Nintendo was the true console people. Because how I see consoles is something you sit down and play with a couple friends. And nintendo has always been the best at that. I'd rather play SSB, mario party and their ilk with friends than anything I've ever seen on any other game console. Xbox and PS are more...computers attached to your TV. Where you don't have to do any of the work to install or stuff like that, just plug in and play. Which is why the have 'mature' titles...aka computer games. edit: also a difference is nintendo are more multiplayer, same room games vs single player or over the internet games...which is where xbox and ps dominate. |

Online can fill that gap with other dedicated gamers.Casual gaming with friends is indeed awesome but I can't knock online gaming when you're more 'hardcore' into a given game than your real life friends are. | |
