Seriously. =(

I'm afraid of my 360 being so much as touched while turned on, and I have to be cognizant of where it is located... does it have room to breathe!

Edit: God help the sap foolish enough to walk too hard near my NES while I was playing a game.

My 360 3-red-light-of-death'd two weeks ago. My frustration is siphoning from it. It'll happen to you too. You just have to accept the fact and wait patiently.

I don't stand my 360 up anymore because if it falls over while a disk is spinning in there, you just lost a game. Scratches the SHIT out of it in a solid ring.

Heh. Reminds me when I got my Third Dawn beta disc in the mail oh so many years ago (UO, remember?). I popped that shit in the tray to install, and seconds into the installation my drive was making an EXTREMELY LOUD NOISE and nothing was happening on screen. I freaked and hit eject, and the drive extended with the fucking disc still spinning at high speeds. The disc started flopping around in the tray getting all scratched for a second and then flew out of it flying like a UFO. It was totally metal.

Luckily, I had a friend who also joined the beta. Also luckily, Third Dawn sucked ass.

Heh, I did that at a LAN... had my 360 on my PC and my foot resting next to it.... moved my foot a little and the 360 fell onto it fairly gently.

Nice big circle carved into Madden.

Yay for Circuit City customer service tho.

Honestly the PS3 shouldn't have been released till this Xmas, or possibly even later.

A combination of Toshiba's HD-DVD threat, Microsoft's 1 year lead with the 360, the Wii phenom, and 1st gen publishers needing to sell their software, forced their hand, making it hit the shelves.

Personally, I consider the console dead in the water till this Xmas, possibly next summer. With it's current selection of games, the bang/buck factor just isn't there.

I expect to buy one later though, should their in house titles hit the stores within a year.

The console will remain dead in the water. Nothing can save it at this point.

Wait for x title isn't going to cut it. It reeks of the same wait for Sunshine, Wind Waker, etc cries of GC supporters last generation. =(

The PlayStation did (launched december 1994, stoped production march 2006) and the PS2 will, undoubtably. The PS3? Who knows... it's not starting too well that's for sure.

the whole argument that the PS3 (or whatever console) will pick up in sales when the games hit always seemed facetious to me. I loved my Gamecube, but I never imagined I would be seeing the next GTA on it. It's like a spiraling demise, the console doesn't sell so the developers move to multi-platform which leaves less and less reason to buy the console in the first place. You are left with some games that an extreme minority will buy the console specifically for, but most people won't. It's a huge investment to buy a PS3 for most people, and buying it for 1-2 games? nah, no thanks.

Incidentally, there's a rumour that MGS4 just got a 6-month delay.

given how long game development takes on the PS3 and how late Sony wised up to the need to develop 1st party games it will be xmas 2008 before a must have game is released, if that. That's 3 christmas's for the 360 and 2 for the wii pretty much uncontested.

That's so Konami can get accustomed to the 360 dev-kit.

Good point. I didn't read the article, but the quote doesn't make a distinction between them producing the PS3 for 10 years and not releasing another console for 10 years. He could have been referring to the former. I'm sure there's quite a few consoles that have been produced for 10 years, so this really could be a whole bunch of nothing. Either way, I think they'll definitely release another console well before 2016... I would think six years at the most.
