Just got this (along with a 360) tonight, it's hilarious.

How much of the campaign should I play through before I try to play online?

You honestly don't have to play through any of campaign if you don't want to. As long as when you play online you stay with your teammates, you should be fine. But if you do play offline, might as well play through Blood Harvest/No Mercy just to learn the maps if you want. Offline won't help you with playing infected either, just gotta jump on in and figure it out. Best way is to just watch other players when your dead to find where good spots are for attacking.

If you suck at FPS games, it might be worthwhile practicing by yourself for a bit, but if you've played a bunch of them before, you can hop right in. You'll figure out the multiplayer stuff just through experience online, as Rica said. Campaigns can't prepare you for going up against other people.

It's the 360 version, I don't think the players can tell the difference.

The PC Patch + the SDK is being delayed because of the fucking stupid XBOX Live process for adding content. They want to release both at the sametime.

Well I guess it's nice for the console players as they won't feel so left out/behind

The critics choice version ships April 21'st and contains the two VS maps and Survival mode.

Whether we PC players get the patch before then I don't know, but the current assumption is that it'll come on thee 21st at the latest. I think a ton of us believed it would come sooner on the PC to identify things that would need to be patched come the 21st .

On xbox live at least most people will yell at you to do something specific (smoker get on that roof with the antenna, insta kills bitch!). It helped me when I first started playing versus. Campaign and versus are completely different as people said so I wouldn't really worry about anything but stay with your team.

So much anger from the console lovers. At least the update will be released soon and hopefully L4D gets a larger following, maybe some leagues pick it up.

WELL OVER 2 million copies sold on the X360 version. This is a huge hit on X360, the likes of which Valve hadn't seen for a while (on consoles). And it's STILL selling 40-50k copies a week, awesome legs on that one.

I play PC but good for them and good for me as their next few projects are guaranteed even bigger budgets.

And maybe even a patch or two somewhere along the way.

Point being, the only "competitive" FPS on 360 is Halo.
