+17 Internets | May 2007 - PS2 RPG craziness May is absolutely nuts. There are now 4 big RPGs slated for it. IGN: .hack//G.U. Vol. 2: Reminisce .hack//G.U. Volume 2: Reminisce was just officially dated for 5/8/2007 - something I didn't expect. Out of the four being released in May I'm definitely looking forward to this one the most. IGN: Atelier Iris 3 ~Grand Fantasm~ Atelier Iris 3 ~Grand Fantasm~ - More goodness from Gust on 05/15/07. Actually, I'm probably just as excited for this as I am for GU V2. Gust is proving to be a fantastic developer. Atelier Iris 2 and Ar tonelico are awesome games. IGN: Odin Sphere Odin Sphere is set for 05/25/07. It's another Atlus published game, though developed by Vanillaware. It looks like it should be a pretty good 2D Action-RPG. IGN: Dawn of Mana And finally we have Dawn of Mana set for 05/22/07. Unfortunately, this game may only be big in name alone. From all accounts of people on this board playing the Japanese version - the game sucks ass and Square fucked up. But hey, we can pray they make some major changes for the US version. Last edited by Sean : 03-24-2007 at 11:40 PM. |

+61 Internets | It's hard to nail exactly what made Secret of Mana so awesome. I think it was just the 'Woah...this is new!' appeal honestly. I've tried replaying it a couple times and I usually get bored half-way through. That and it was far more fun playing it 2-player with a buddy. Not nearly enough 2-player RPG's as far as I'm concerned. SPLIT SCREEN mind you. Fuck Microsoft and multiplayer online only modes. |

| Heh, I noticed this also a few days ago... was like whoa May is going to own and suck at the same time... I wish these games could get released over a spread of dates and not in chunks :|

| i'd wager you havent played a good one because everything but final fantasy and kingdom hearts seem to be second tier to square now. where are you gameplay successor to chrono trigger, i'm in dire need of dual techs. anyway, odin sphere looks somewhat interesting due to how fucking odd it looks. |

| .hack/gu or whatever the fuck it is called is one of the worst games I've ever played. I got it because everyone on these forums were raving over how great it was. After a few nauseating hours I finally just said fuck it and trashed that piece of shit. Sorry to all the fanboys but I'm gonna have to agree with the professional reviews for that game. |

+23 Internets | Is there a way to catch up on the .hack storyline so I can just pick up the G.U. games and know what is going on? I'm really digging Odin Sphere's looks, but none of the IGN shots show any gameplay. It's just all "talking" scenes. Maybe Gamespot has some different pics. |

But hey, to each their own - you don't like it, great. Most people here who picked up Volume 1 did like it however. Anyways... Soygen - you can pretty much jump into GU without reading, playing, or watching any of the other .hack stuff. It stands on its own pretty well. Though I would recommend downloading and watching the .hack//ROOTS anime - it's a direct prequel to GU and has a ton of story related to GU (and it'll make Haseo's demeanor make a lot more sense). You can also look through .hack//Wiki - .hack//Wiki - a Wikia wiki for the series that are prior to GU. | |
