I can't really see a full character transfer with levels/points etc all intact, or rather I would be surprised if they did. First off, if they want to bring someone new into the series either that person would be at a severe disadvantage not having a character to carry over in terms of difficulty, or the player carrying over his decked out Shepard will find the game trivial, so I would expect possibly free talent points based on a percentage of your total as a bonus, with maybe the option of being able to make a new Shepard with a bonus skill from the achievements - both would obviously carry benefits without making the next game too easy from the get go. I would expect the decisions would carry over, and probably open some new quests up depending on your decisions in various quests in this one. Also if they really should get a patch out to do something about the Paragon points exploits if those end up mattering in the next one, but they got time for that.

They could just do what MMORPGs have been doing - increase the level cap. If you import your level 60 char, you can play on the highest difficulty right away, where you can go on to level 80 and get new skills. Ditto with ME 3 and level 100. If you just buy ME 3, you'll have to play on the easier difficulty and level up before you can tackle the hardest one.

I wonder more what they'll do with the game story. Can they have content available only to players who have already completed ME1 and done so in the "right" way? And that's only going to compound with ME3. If they can pull it off, it'll be amazing though.

I fear they'll just dodge that though, for example by moving it to a different galaxy. Yeah, shit back there is done - trouble's here now. Oh, you're getting new crew members, too. -- that'd be weak, but more likely

Just bought Mass Effect, and I normaly dont like RPG's all that much but this game has the best features of a first person shooter with party commands similar to the last final fanasty.

So far I'm haveing a blast, would be fun if you could have 3 player co-op tho hehe

Online co-op needs to happen in ME2. This would make the game even more awesome, they'd just have to make it so the game doesn't pause if someone launches their abilities. That'd boost the difficulty, too.

I'm pretty sure we're going to get the shaft as far as decisions effecting future ME games. It'll just be too branching (IMO). Maybe they'll surprise me (and probably everyone else) but I highly doubt it. I'm guessing we'll see a few nods to our past accomplishments but or whatever, but that's about it.

I'm also skeptical that anything important will carry over. Certainly a "maxed out" character or some shit won't carry over. Like others have said, maybe a bonus depending on your level/character class... that's about it.

As far as story goes, it pretty much sets it up to be in another galaxy. I imagine shepard will take the fight to the Reapers rather than sit on his ass in his same galaxy waiting for them. I'll go out on a limb and say that the majority will take place in the geth system(s) of space (and/or dark space).

As far as co-op goes... it'd be awesome but highly unlikely. It'd be nice if they did like eternal sonata and some of the FF's or something where friends can take place of allies and shit for combat... but I dunno too many people who would want to sit around (online) and watch you do fetch quests and mako shit while they sat with a thumb up their ass. It's an easier thing to pull off split screen than online IMO.

It was stated in interviews earlier in the development cycle that between the 3 main games of the Mass Effect Trilogy there would be episodic content released via Xbox Live that bridges the storyline from one game to the next.

Lord only knows how much of that will come to pass... but its not often that you see games that have a "downloaded module" section built in to the main menu screen.

I like the idea of keeping the difficulty of the enemies the same, just without pausing for abilities. It'd probably even itself out since you don't have retarded party members, and pausing's mostly useful for targeting enemies, you usually know what you want to use. It'd still make the game significantly easier, but the co-op mode of pretty much every game is.

What would the other player do while you were in dialogue for 10 minutes? There would have to be some way for them to interact in all that stuff too.

Oh shit, forgot about that part. I guess sit there and jack it (if you're playing on Live) is about all you can do. Hah or draw on the screen Zack and Wiki style. Considering it more makes me think it's not worth the effort to do co-op. Seeing as way too much of the game is exploration and picking items up and decrypting and talking to people, which is tough to make work for 2+ people.
.
EDIT: Or the secondary character in dialogues has to choose what to do with himself during the sequences. For example: It's time to move it groove it (like that video Blank posted), Combo Breaker!, Juggle, or Sit with thumb up ass

Slightly annoyed when I beat it last night and didn't get the Krogan and Quarian Ally achievements. I made the mistake of doing Noveria with Garrus and Liara instead for variety (it ended up being my second planet, I won't do that this time through), and from reading the Gamefaqs achievement FAQ I guess the requirement is specifically complete 15 missions and 45 assignments with the characters to get their ally achievement.

You could probably change characters for say, Feros, but Noveria is a bit longer with a few more missions, so fair warning for people who haven't beat it and want to get the achievements for whatever characters their first playthrough.

This game took over my life for the last week, I absolutely love it. I rented it because I wasn't sure if I would get into it or not, but I will pick it up next time I'm near a store for sure now. Even though I finished it, would like to play through it again with a different character.

Everything about this game just blew me away.

Yea same here. Completely took over my life for about a week until I finished it. I did every quest I could, before moving on to the main quests. Suffice to say, wife wasn't very happy.

Almost certainly this is the case, that's how my problems started. With my new refurbished Xbox I haven't had a freezing issue with any game.
