I just found out why this is.

You need the power gamer achievement (level 50) AND Rich in order for X level spectre stuff to show up. It's why I never noticed on my first playthrough (only got to 49 -_-).

In case people didn't know, when you load the game go to extra's. A lot of the achievements you unlock do stuff.

EDIT: all effects are here: Mass Effect Message Board - Mass Effect Forum - Mass Effect Discussion

Here are the steps. Might be you talked to him first before saving.

1. Fly to Citadel system (or any system that would refresh your merchant's inventory pool).
2. Run down to Mako bay and stand in front of the merchant.
3. Save BEFORE you talk to the merchant, because once you talk to him, it locks the inventory until you go to another resupply system.
4. Talk to the merchant, see if there is some uber gear you want. If there is, buy and you're done. If there isn't, then just reload from the save file you have made. Rinse and repeat until you got that piece of armor/weapon you just want to burn your hard earned credits on.
5. Once you buy an item, the merchant's inventory pool is set until you go to another star system that would refresh it. So just repeat the above steps if you want more gears.

A) Any word on when the episodic content comes?
B) Any word on if you can import your characters to Mass effect 2?

Just curious!

A) I haven't heard anything other than they do plan on it.
B) That's what they say. They claim this is going to be a 3 part series and you'll be able to import your character from each with the decisions you make having an affect.

Not sure which mission you are on but if you have access the Mako you can just hit X to go back to the Normandy. Or I think if you pull up the map you get the same option of hitting X to exit the mission.

you can't leave main story planets once you land. You've got to complete the entire thing.

(EDIT) well you might be able to leave if you go back to your ship, but the regular X in mako or fromp the map screen won't work. I never tried though so meh.

I'd pay almost anything for Downloadable Content for this game.

One new main story planet for 800 MS points? Yes please!

I'd pay almost anything for an inventory system that's not fucking stone-age, an interface that doesn't have a half-second delay for every action, and a dialog-skip button that doesn't inexplicably double as a dialog option selection button.

Don't get me wrong, I like the game, but some of the non-gameplay interface-y parts of it are insultingly bad.

Yeah, these things are lame. The 'zoom out' on the star map annoys the crap out of me too. I keep hitting 'B' to back up and end up exiting the map. Doh.

1) Configurable controls (grenade button is in a stupid place, you don't need X and R trigger bound to drawing your weapon/shooting)
2) Map bound to some key or combo of keys
3) Tap shoulder buttons to open skills/weapon swap windows, or combine the windows, there isn't a good reason for 2 when they could put weapons icons just above the skills icons instead
4) Some less loading intensive method of accessing systems
5) ANY kind of inventory sorting

If all those things happen in Mass Effect 2, that would be rather nice.

Oh, and any skippable scenes. The Normandy landing/leaving the Citadel was neat the first time, considerably less neat the 10th time.

Hah, I'd forgotten about that one, happens way too often for me too, of course it takes a while to get back into the map and it doesn't remember what you were looking at. /bleh

obligatory: remove the MAKO for Mass Effect 2 request.

If they insist on the exploration idea, at least give us a flier so we don't have to put up with bullshit mountains and crap.

That's just the usual ass backwards design. You figure interface, controls, etc, would be the first things conceptualized.
