| BUBBLES THE MONKEY!!! | Ding dong the witch is dead? (Fuck you Jack Thompson) No no, Jack didn't kick the bucket..........yet. IGN: Game Violence Debate Killed? I didn't see this posted so I figured I'd post it. It basically since says juvenile arrests is down like almost 80 percent while game sales keep rising. Since most games are violent by nature (which is a dangerous assumption), they figured there's no real relationship between violence and digital violence. While the logic is flawed, it's fucking true. Video Games don't kill people, Sociopaths do. |

| Problem is this study (in general not this specific study) is not new news. Many times its been said that crime with teens hasn't grown over the last few decades or something. Either way this won't even phase Jack and the rest. |

+1 Internets | This really doesn't matter to folks like Jack Thompson. Fantatics like him are so high strung on the belief that violent video games will destroy children that no amount of proof showing otherwise would make them budge. I used to have a friend back in high school that was 4.0 grade average and one smart little fucker. His Christian zealot History teacher found a Resident Evil strat guide sticking out of his mesh booksack and began to throw the most amazing show of religious morality ever, screaming about how games like this shouldn't be in his hands and took something that would of gotten him a slap on the hand at best and tried to force the vice-principal to do a lot worse. He ended up getting transfered shortly after out of the class which worked out for everyone. |

| If just one child is destroyed by video games that is too many. What would you tell the parents of that child? That it was too important for you to play your little violent kill fests than for them to have their little boy? Fuck you.

+61 Internets | No shit, have some heart. Video games need to be -banned- from all American cities to prevent this travesty from ever occurring. Also, toasters need to have much higher safety regulations. Did you know that you can turn an average toaster into a lethal weapon by disabling the pop-up spring mechanism and inserting a strawberry poptart? After a few minutes the poptart will explode with enough force to KILL AN INFANT. Is the life of a child worth such a delicious snack? IS IT?! |

1.) Underground developers and a black market for the games would be created and distribute their creations via the internet. It's likely crime organizations would become involved (as they inevitably do with illegal goods) and we'd be seeing shootouts between cops and programmers' cronies. 2.) A great medium for expression and a release of aggression/frustration would be removed, meaning a greater build-up of potential explosive feelings. While I know it's a bit of a stereotypical statement, many gamers are far too geeky to go hit the punching bag or join the rugby team for that release. 3.) The Constitutional rights of a certain media and its backers would have been jeopardized, resulting in huge protests which can get out of control, rebellious acts of violence, and the strong arm of the law coming down hard on the dissident, resulting in a vicious circle of violence begetting violence. If you mean "How much would violence be down if video games never existed in the first place?": -You may as well ask how your future would've been different if you didn't call out sick for work that one day 5 years ago. Who can say? | |
