Vice City MMO please I have working design specs zomg rockstar hire me.

So has there been any mention of the supposed online play? Or if they're releasing the PC version the same time as the console ones? I see no reason not to now that it isn't an exclusive.

I'm sure they won't release them at the same time so they can't make their share of profits from the console release.

That would be cool. I wish there were areas of micromanagement that you could handle like building an entourage to assist in assassinations; control smaller, on-the-rise gangs; appropriate weapons from a cache to different territories of gangs.

I wish that by the end of the game, you'd drive a car to the last mission and see people wearing your colors (or some other identifying mark); get out and have your car valet'd by a guy you knew was on your payroll; and walk into the establishment with everyone kissing your feet.

I'll have to play GTA SA, because I know you get territory, hopefully this is similar.

Well its kinda similar. In GTA SA you gain respect for completing missions, killing cops (maybe just people? I saw my respect rise when I killed a bunch of cops once), etc. With more respect you can 'run a gang'.. The higher your respect, the bigger a gang you can get to follow you around. You target your gang members and push up on the Dpad, they follow you aroudn til you tell them otherwise, get in your cars, etc. While its a good concept its pretty useless in the game because your gang members cant shoot for shit, get run over and die, and are... i dunno just useless.

Hopefully they improve on the already-good concept because it has a lot of potential. Imagine CJ leading a gang and you can use GRAW-esque squad control.... yeah that would rock

I somehow have a hard time imagining a mafia boss ordering his men to break into a lower-middle class home and steal the VCR and the the TV.
Yeah because that's exactly what actual gangs do...

Mario must be a gang member or something. Why are you defending gang members? They're fucking scum!

Now mafia members, those guys are all class.

I think Qin's talking about in San Andreas where you have to break into the gun nut's house to steal boxes of ammunition? Thats the only part of the main story where you even do something similar to stealing TVs and VCRs.

If Qin's talking about the extra burglary missions, give me a fucking break. There's also extra delivery boy missions and truck driving missions... romg gangstaz drive trucks and deliver newspapers... mobsters are above that nonsense!

And Indiana, you have to tag what? 5 spots in one mission? takes two minutes? One driveby mission in Los Santos? Also, the main story in San Andreas that you hated is a lot closer to Training Day than it is to Boyz in da Hood. CJ never came across to me as 'a mad niggerish thug', he was pretty funny, somewhat philanthropic, and intelligent throughout most of the game.

SA/VC derail aside...

I just realized something about this new game that worries me. This is the first time they're going to be required to play modern rock and hiphop music... I'm scurred, yo! In San Andreas the only stations I didnt like listening to were KJAH West, OSR, and Mastersounds!

I have a feeling in this new game there are going to be a lot more shitty stations...

Modern Rock is going to be horrible unless they go for more Alt-rock than Nickelback/Hinder/other audiodiarrhea.
Modern Hiphop is going to be horrible.
I have a feeling they'll have some kind of Reggaeton station, which is doomed to blow.
Then they'll have a station like OSR/Mastersounds where they play old slow jam's or R&B shit
Then they'll have an Old School NY rap station that plays Run DMC and Sugar Hill Gang and stuff

God I'm going to hate the music in this game

I'm talking about the fact, that as a "all too white and nerdy" person in my late twenties, I had a very hard time identifying with a " Boyz 'n da hood" setting. It's got nothing to do with glorifying the mob as the Einsteins of organized crime either. But for coolness factor alone, leaving the head of a dead horse in somebodies bed beats the hell out of "tagging" a rundown ghetto and doing drive-bys to work up street credz.

I prefer Goodfellas over "Boys in the hood too", shit I better renew my Klan membership, you're right. I'm rascist!

Maybe I'm too old now and out of the primary demographics of Rockstars Games, but I do hope GTA:4 tries to appeal broader than SA did.
Well if you did play through the whole game and still find CJ to be a retard gangbanger like any random nig on the corner then you obviously didn't pay enough attention or were too blinded by your bias against the setting to look past it.

Also to people who bitch about that the radio stations are going to play modern music, that is a retarded point. You guys realize that not all radio stations play music exclusively within the last decade? There are even some that play music from the 60's all the way to today. Shit, I heard some Pink Floyd on the radio just today. Imagine that! You are a simple button push away from not having to hear any music you don't to. And anyways if you're playing on a 360 you can just play your own music.

So you're saying that Gangs aren't full of petty criminals that would kill for 20 bucks?
What exactly was Tookie Williams sentenced to death for again?

Look man, you run around in the game doing whatever other people want you to do, without goals or direction and you carry this dumb slack jawed look on your face the entire time.

In VC, Vercetti would go somewhere, call some shots, go get shit done and make some money. All CJ did was blunder his way through the game doing whatever people wanted him to do and just hope that he could do enough ridiculous shit to bump into James Woods.

Vercetti fucked Vice City from the getgo like it was a big vagina and owned it, CJ took 100 missions, 2 continents and 8 cities to get his brother out of jail because he was too busy being whipped by some crazy latina bitch. What would Vercetti do if that crack ass hoe started talking about his meatballs? He'd cap a bitch. Look at the interaction between Vercetti and Mercedes, and then look at CJ and the latina girl. CJ was just a whipped dog by everyone that crossed his path and the only time he stood up for himself was when I was controlling him. He wasn't smart, he didn't make decisions and he was retarded.

In his surroundings? Are you counting him and his brother his surroundings? Because there were tons more intelligent people than he was in the game. Like the blind Azn, Toreno, any of the mafia guys... hell, Lazlow was smarter than CJ.

You guys are ridiculous and CJ was stupid.

That's just completely false. In many of the missions, CJ was presented with a problem and he came up with the plan. Most of the time it was pretty creative too. You must have him confused with the GTA3 guy. If you guys could look past the thug lifestyle and see the character for what he is you might like him.

This is heading into "Stupidest Debate Ever" territory. Well, at least the stupidest in 2007.

When did CJ ever make a plan for anything?
