[PS3]Sony expects to resolve PS3 shortages by May

http://today.reuters.com/news/articl...-Feb-2007+RTRS

Quote:
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb 27 (Reuters) - Sony Corp. (6758.T: Quote, NEWS , Research) is on track to have shipped 2 million PlayStation 3s to North American stores by the end of March, and expects shortages of the video game console to have completely eased by May, a top executive said on Tuesday.

"April or May is when we feel like we're going to catch up to demand and have product fully in stock across North America and stay there," said Jack Tretton, chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment America.

Asked about widespread reports on video game Web sites that stacks of unsold PlayStation 3s are a common sight in many electronics shops, Tretton told Reuters in an interview that the console was still out of stock in some areas three months after its November launch.

"Our goal is to fill shelves across the United States. Our goal is not to have empty shelves, it's to have full shelves. If we have empty shelves, that's one less consumer who could have bought a PlayStation 3," Tretton said.

Tretton, who helped Sony laun........

Um.... What!?! YouTube - PS3's in stock

Seriously? How is anyone so blind?

I see now. You're one of those people that looks for reasons to be offended. It must be frustrating to go through life like that.

I don't know what it's like where most people are, but it's VERY easy to get a PS3 in my area. Reading shit like this is comedic.

This is fantastic. I feel like Sony has employed the old Iraqi Information Minister.

More pressers like these and I could get behind the company again.

Even small ghetto-shops that dont normally sell gaming consoles have signs out front saying "PS3s are available here!" .... so where is this shortage?

Not to beat on a dead horse, but yea. You can't get a wii here in my small town yet, but there are no less than 7-8 PS3s at walmart sitting in a display. Ditto for the few other electronic stores in town. Pretty funny.

Same here, PS3's available far and wide here. Wii's no where to be found.

Can we have a single unified topic stickied where people can post the latest and greatest retarded comment made by a Sony exec? It seems that someone high up in Sony has something moronic to say each and every day.

My prediction for tomorrow's quote -- Jack Tretton will say that the PS3 will allow you to communicate with God. Cell is just that damn amazing.

No no, he'll say that the Cell could not possibly have been designed by man, as it is irreducibly complex. Obviously, it must have been Intelligent Design.

Maybe Sony meant the customer shortage for PS3?
