+18 Internets | Resident Evil 4 (PC) One of my all time favorite games. I was wondering if anyone has any info on it. Like can I aim with my mouse or will I be forced to use a controller. Being able to play the game with FPS controls would make me get it again for PC. No reviews for it or anything. Headshots would be much easier to do etc etc.

| First off, the game sucks ass on PC, let's just get that right out of the way. They didn't bother to port silly little things like shaders, lighting, shadows, etc. so the entire game is lit up like it's high noon on a the sunniest day of the year. Even when you're underground or in a building. RE doesn't work without atmosphere, and it's kind of hard to achieve that without lighting. Controls are terrible too, whether you're using a PSX-to-USB converter, X360 controller, or fumbling with the keyboard like a tard. There is a program which lets you emulate a gamepad thumbstick with your mouse, but it's not very precise. All in all, I waited a long ass time to play this game, since I refused to buy a GC or PS2, and the PC port was a massive letdown. It's actually worse than the port of Onimusha 3 that was done over a year ago, so apparently they learned nothing in the meantime and Ubi was stupid enough to hire the same people again. Edit: I played the original release of it called Biohazard 4, but word is that nothing has changed between then and the soon-to-be-released US version. Ubi claims they will patch it to fix the shaders, but who knows when that will happen. If you're still interested for some reason, I highly recommend DL'ing before buying. | I'm sure most of my control complaints would have been the same if I was playing the console version. I despise the very idea of using a gamepad for first/third person shooting. Not being able to strafe like in Silent Hill pisses me off too, and being frozen in place when you pull out your knife is just retarded. I could probably have ignored that stuff if the game itself really was as good as the reviews made it out to be, but with the total lack of lighting effects on the PC the mood of the game is ruined. |

| The pirated version from Korea for PC is all I've found anything written about and it's shite. No shaders at all. Check theisonews for some writeups; apparently Ubi is in the process of a proper Euro/NA port with shaders and such - this was posted on the Capcom boards by a capcom employee. |

| I dunno why you'd refuse to buy a PS2 though unless you have some hate vendetta against Sony. There's at least 45 PS2 titles that are 90% or higher rated on Game Rankings - Video Game Reviews, Release Dates, Cheat Codes, and half of them can be bought used for $5-10 (including RE4). |

| When I first played this on the GC, not strafing and standing still with the knife really chapped my ass, but the more I thought about it and the more I played it, the more I agreed with the choices Capcom made. The gun play is solid from a "semi-realistic" standpoint. No, it's not realistic, but neither is strafing or skipping around someone while you blast them away. This game is about immersion, it's about making you cringe as the baddies get closer and your clip gets smaller. It's about "believability." Also, if you could move and use the knife at the same time, the game difficulty would be cut in half and you'd use the knife every chance you got. |

| I agree that the game would be far too easy with full FPS controls, but the opposite end of the control spectrum that it's at now killed the game for me too. I would've been happy if it controlled like Silent Hill 4, I had no problems with that game, and it was still difficult in places. |

| The RE4 controls aren't that bad to get used to. Being an FPS whore yeah, I cried and bitched going through the outer villages, but after about an hour I got a hold of it. The change of pace was a bit refreshing. There are no real encounters in the game that expect you to be fast, so you can take your time with the dopey controls. |
