Command & Conquer™ III

Demo soon to be released on Fileplanet (rumor says today), anyone else interested?

Another question would be, Supreme Commander VS C&C3 ?

C&C 3 Demo wont hit before the 26th afaik, but that's subject to change (maybe). Source

A heads-up to you all that a couple of FilePlanet subscribers on the discussion thread for yesterday's Demo Release Date "announcement" have pointed out that the FilePlanet download applet now lists Monday, February 26th as the ETA for the C&C3 demo, which is a pretty good indicator that it won't actually be coming out next Tuesday, although we can probably expect it by the end of the month.
As for SC vs C&C3. SC is probably one of the most overhyped RTS games of all time. It has some nice features, such as the zooming, editing waypoints on the fly etc., but it's basically TA. Same old dull textures, boring maps and ugly landscapes (insanely huge however). It's not a bad game by all means but it's not the new RTS king.

C&C's have ALWAYS had shitty interfaces, with almost a complete lack of any advanced management features. I'm curious as to whether they made any changes here.

You bet I'm interested. Last good RTS for me was Company of Heroes and while it was fun the game's AI cheated a bit too much IMO. Still a fun game though.

C&C I and II were awesome games and I wouldn't consider Renegate or Generals as part of the C&C series, though Renegate could have been great - the premises was cool.

Huge hopes for C&C 3, I just wish they'd have implemented dual-screens support like SC

as far as i'm concerned there hasn't been a RTS worth playing since warcraft 3. i don't really seen that changing.

I tend to agree. I never really got into the C&C series. Something about the interface, units, management, etc just never really gelled with me the way the Warcraft series and its elements managed to. Warcraft III was, in my opinion, a nearly flawless RTS game. It had some balancing issues, to be sure, but the engine was damn near perfect.

C&C (in all its incarnations) has always seemed primitive by comparison. Add the ridiculously stupid Generals spin-offs into the mix, and you find in C&C a series on the decline. I hope C&C III steps up the level of play, but the only RTS game I'm really holding my breath for is Warcraft IV.

Not Starcraft2?

Personally I loved Red Alert, and to a lesser extent Red Alert 2. They bother allowed for some good scope for innovative tactics. Things like filling an APC full of Tanya's was a great trick, but also one that could be countered fairly easy if the other guy was expecting it.

Though I did love in TA using a transport plane to pick up 1 enemies commander and hover it over another enemies commander to take them bother out!

C&C Red Alert 1. My abosolute favorite RTS (followed by WC2, SC, and WC3)

Dawn of War > *

WC3 is a great engine for custom map design, but is mostly boring as an RTS. DoTA is far better than ladder games.

Found this somewhere (Rage3D Boards):
Quote:
I just got the latest issue of PC Gamer and they reviewed the final version of C&C 3.

They gave the game a 90%.

High points:
Three Diverse sides; quick multiplayer action; best full-motion video cut scenes in years.

Low points: Combat may be too frantic for some. Alien plot feels tacked on to the main story.

Bottom Line: C&C 3 returns to the franchise's roots with great looking non stop RTS action.

They also mentioned that the multiplayer interface is the best one that they have seen and that the alien race feels like they added an expansion on to an already complete game. They were happy about the graphics and the way the game plays. They mentioned that each side has tons of units that all have their own unique play styles.

One of the things that may make many of you happy is the system requirments.

P4 1.8GHz, 512MB RAM, 8GB HD space, DX9.0c 64MB graphic card with 8X DVD ROM.

They reccommend a P4 @2.4GHz, 1GB RAM, 128 MB video card.

Not too bad for a cutting edge RTS. They didn't mention if the game is multi-threaded so I don't know if dual core will make a differance in this one. The only complaint that I read about that I would have liked to see out of the game is that the camera cannot move out as far away as they would have liked. It's a problem that the game engine has had ever since generals but oh well.

I would recommend picking up the issue. It has detailed descriptions of each side and many more opinions that I left out. Also they have a ton of great pictures of the game.
While you mentioned Dawn of War you also might want to mention it's addon Dark Crusade. Both are pretty RTS pieces on their own.
