| Crackdown I know we already have a thread about the demo, but this game is released tomorrow, and well I'm damn excited. I haven't played the demo since the day after it was released (didn't want to wear the accelerated skills out), and today I picked it back up. I'm completely overwhelmed by hype again. This game is truly a GTA-style sandbox game that feels like it couldn't have been done last-gen. I really have nothing substantial to say... I'll be picking the game up in 2 hours. |

| Not a problem for me, fortunately. I spend a vast majority of my time in large sandbox games doing absolutely nothing related to advancement. I can easily piss away hours just stacking things and making them go boom. =D Edit: The game is a lot more fun without the pressure of a half hour timer. Edit2: Gosh I love this game ^_^ Last edited by RiskyChris : 02-20-2007 at 08:02 AM. |

+5 Internets | I finally put aside the time to play this game and was completely underwhelmed. The handling on the cars were horrible, my "accelerated skills" character could barely pick up a trash can, GAY LOCK ON TARGETING, and no customizable character brings this game the big L. It will sell millions for the Halo 3 demo, but I think there are going to be a lot of disappointed people out there today. |

+8 Internets | This is what really turned me off while playing the demo. Have they changed anything now that it is released? |

You arent supposed to drive all that well until you get your driving skill up, even then its not the worst thing ever.. it just isnt that fun at lvl 1 driving skill. And what lvl was your strength that you could barely pick up a garbage can? At lvl 4 you can pick up buses so were you lvl -5?? Seriously get a lvl or two before you plan on taking over the world with your mighty garbage can of terror. Either way I think people complain about all the wrong problems. Customization, the storyline, and the depth of the game should be the things being put down.

+2 Internets | I absolutely LOVE the lock on targeting. This game is one of the 'funnest' games on the 360 that I've played. Me and my friend hopping rooftops collecting as many Agility orbs as we can is so much fun. It's freaking GTA on crack. And yeah, a garbage can? WTF are you talking about? If by garbage can you mean a dumpster, then yeah you are right, you can pick that up at Star 1 (you start at star 0) strength. I'm loving it at this point in time and I'm not too worried about customizations due to the added 4 models they've implemented. They give me enough variety. |

I'm kinda holding out for some good DLC. By the by, the achievements in Crackdown are the first time that I've genuinely felt they added to the gameplay (I'm not saying it is the only example!). Good show.

| I had convinced myself not to buy this, but played the demo some more and had a gift certificate so...what the hell. The game is fun, let me state that up front. Lots of fun. Problem is, it only lasts about 6 hours. They put out a spectacular framework for a game, but forgot to add the game part to the framework. Quick rundown - you have to kill 5-6 sub bosses around parts of the city before taking on the boss of that region. If you don't take down the sub bosses, the final boss will be far more powerful, a la ZG in WoW. Thing is, bosses and sub bosses are just guys who take a full clip of ammo to kill rather than a burst - you run up, dose them and they die. In some cases, it's even easier to simply jump over to them, beat them to death and move on. Only in three cases did it require "strategy" - one sub boss has to be flushed out into the open by blowing up parts of a refinery. Another is in a cave filled with rocket launcher wielding henchmen (just throw in 8 grenades == you win) and the final boss of the game. He's up on a little balcony overlooking a courtyard. Two doors below him spawn soldiers. I killed the soldiers and threw a pile of grenades up onto his balcony which blew him off the balcony down to me. I think the fall is what killed him. No real story; there's a final speech that makes you sound like the bad guy, to be honest. Imagine GTA without any side quests, characters to talk to or really good music. Vehicles feel pointless. No planes, boats, bikes. Cars, trucks, and SUVs only. Once you get AGI 4, I cannot think why you would use a vehicle other than for the races. Basic weapons are pretty bland. Shotguns, pistols, machine guns and sniper rifles. Second sniper rifle is 1 hit = kill, but you can't carry fuck all for ammo. And they're damn rare, so it isn't like you're gonna be picking them up frequently. I just took the biggest machine gun I could and the guided rocket launcher. Explosives are pretty goddamn cool, and look awesome especially at level 4. Really could have used some flamethrowers, energy weapons, et cetera. Pro: Population density is really impressive, there are a LOT of people wandering and / or driving around town. Con: Imagine if the police came after you every time you stepped on a bug in the course of doing your everyday tasks. Co-op in the demo was a hell of a lot of fun, I hope to hell the issues I've read about in final are either fixed, or less severe than they sound or I'm gonna be pissed. DLC will make or break this game. As it stands, its a rental, and not even a 2 day rental. Just rent it for a sunday and be done with it. |

+54 Internets | No split-screen two player killed it for me. Otherwise it's just a bland GTA meets Spiderman. Worth renting just to run around and blow shit up but other then that, meh. Oh, and having the option for lock on targeting beats the fuck out of having to aim in console games. You don't have to use lock on though if you don't want to I suppose. |
