Yeah I didn't flash mine either. I just keep the Passcard in there for the freak chance that I need to get it repaired.

Yes, don't flash your DS, no need for it (Passcard in your game slot does the trick just fine). There are several working devices but I'd recommend these two: M3 or Supercard. Each device features a version for DS Lite or standard DS. The DS Lite version works with a miniSD card, 1GB is generally enough to hold about 20 games but more space is always better if your budget allows it. (Especially as the above mentioned adapters also allow you to watch movies and listen to music on your DS)
Personally I prefer the M3 because it's plug and play. You just have to update the software (click for guide), convert your movies or roms (only if you own the original of the game ofc!) with the M3 software and you're good to go.
Here is a link to some forums talking about DS modding devices:

MaxConsole Forums - DS Flash Carts, Adapters & Modding

They also offer links to shops selling these adapters.

So the m3 also somehow lets you play DS games themself? I was on blackcats earlier and for some reason just noticed there's a fuckload of DS for download. Would those work the same as a normal rom if you're using a modded ds?

Heh that's like 90% of the reason I got the thing. In fact, it's easier to use an NDS rom than a GBA rom simply because you don't have to restart in GBA mode (if you're using a Passcard3 like me). You just write the NDS rom like you would a GBA rom (except hitting "Write NDS" instead of "Write GBA") and then load it up from the Games section. Couldn't be easier. That's how I'm playing FF3.

yea i also recently got the m3 adapter and couldnt be happier. You can pretty much get every game out there. Even japanese and european versions. I downloaded Jump Superstars the other night man that game would be so mega kick ass on the wii. Pretty much same concept as SSB but with anime characters. Thank god for gamefaqs walkthroughs or else i would have no clue how to play hehe.
