Nintendo Wii

Thought it was time for a new thread since it is here and many people have it. I've never got to try it and while it took me three minutes to select english with the sensor remote, I've now got the hang of it and is extremely smooth and amazing.

Question: Does anyone know what the hell I'm supposed to do with this clear plastic looking disc thing that came in the foam cd wrapper?

You put the clear plastic disk thing under your Nintendo Wii stand.. its like a stand for the stand. I was confused too but manuals do help. :P

Yeah, make sure you read the manual. We couldn't figure out how to turn on the extra controllers and whatnot. was like, "wtf power button does nothing!" and then the maual's all ike, "lol noob hit the sync button by the batteries, lawl."

Anyways..

I'm not liking how much it costs to download and play the old games but meh. And the wii sports game that came with it doesn't have online play which also sucks. 8(

Other then that though it's all sorts of ridiculous fun. Tennis is our favorite so far. Just because we keep doing flying leaps into the stands.

Does the Wii only come in the color white? Or is there a black version?

No, only white (for now?).

I anticipate this system to come out with a new version or at least a new color every few months. This is Nintendo we are talking about. They are the kings of releasing new versions and colors.

Black will come out soon as nearly everyone worldwide has a white one.

So I decided to see if I could snag a Wii this morning on a whim and was relatively surprised that there were none to be found between Target, 2 Walmarts, Meijer, Best Buy, Circuit City, Toys R Us, and EB/Gamestop in the area. I got to most of the places before 8am and every place had already handed out tickets and were sold out before stores opened. Best Buy had a line of about 50-75 people. Local news crew was over at Target interviewing people as they came out with their new system. I don't really live in a heavily populated area either.

It's the same all over the states, strangely enough. I think the hype was underestimated.

Anyway, no online for like a month or two, guys.

I knew it... I have been yelling this over and over. The Wii by itself might not have sold out this weekend but the fact that it was coming out two days after the PS3 launch where x number of people who didn't get it are just going to sjhow up to days later and get the Wii made me think this thing was getting super underestimated...

I saw so many people come in from3pm - midnight on saturday I knew this thing was popular. And I saw not just hardcores but also parents, youing kids, a bunch of parents who were buying this as a christmas present. A old couple who thought this would be great for their arithis.... the list goes on... This system is appealing to everyone and I knew it would sell out fast...

I showed up at my local Fred Meyer at 5:30 this morning (they open at 7) and was 9th in line. They had 18 total units for sale. At 6am the manager was nice enough to open the store and let us sit in the nice warm deli. Free coffee too!

It's funny because on the other side of town the Target getting 24 Wii's had 30+ people lined up THE NIGHT BEFORE!

I couldn't find any component cables and I called all over town (Target, Wal Mart, Fred Meyer) and no stores even carried them. Do I have to order them from Nintendo or what?

I hit Costco at 9am and got one. They were selling it as a bundle...System, Zelda, and Excite Truck for 339.99. Ka-ching!

Hold on a minute, what do you mean? What cable is not included? It comes with something to hook it up to those A/V RCA jack things most newer TV's have right? Sorry, mine won't get opened until Christmas and I want to make sure I have the hardware to hook it up that morning. If it works with Gamecube cables I'll just borrow that instead.

WII ships with composite (Yellow cable video, Red/White Audio.) Virtually all TV's have a composite port.

To get component you need to order them by phone.

I lined up at 5am, got home at 10. Good stuff. Very bare bones for all the online shops, but Zelda was worth every penny. By all accounts they're releasing a new wii next year with DVD support, but if you dont have a dvd player by now I pity you.

Mycity has a future shop, Costco, Walmart, Two best buys, two electronic Boutiques, and god knows what else got some Wiis. By all accounts almost all of them are gone already.
