FF3 DS

Surprised no thread for this yet.

Anyone been playing it?

My experience so far have mainly revovled around exploring the world...and getting raped well doing so.

Game starts, I get the whole "Your the Chosen one, go to the next town" BS, I walk over to the town, and go into a cave in the back I found.

Random Encounter... A skeleton!...finally something to fight besides goblins!, it kills me in one hit, for 300dmg when I have 40health max.

An hour later, I venture into a forest...get attacked by an enemy...hits me for 9999dmg when I have 120 max health.

This same situation happens 3hours later.

Normally...I'd think thats bad game design(and by the book, it is...timeratio to diffaculty curves and all that BS your taught by the industry).

But I found it kinda...fun?... Maybe I just like oldskool games more because they wern't predictable and didn't follow all the rules.(Problem alot of hardcore gamers develop after awhile, when you start thinking shit like "Ok...3 forks...level design predicts the chest would be in the left, and the passage in the right")
When the guy in town says its dangerous, don't journey into the forest of ass-rape, because boy, your gonna get raped.

Anyways, I'm having alot of fun with this so far, whats everyone else's experiences?

If you're getting hit that much then you need to learn to lvl grind.

The cave in that Kazus town or whatever is a bit misplaced in my mind considering you dont need to go there until after you get like lvl 10+ but you find it at like lvl 2.

Either way the game is a level grind which is why you're getting stomped. Lvl lvl lvl.

Somehow I think level grinding for a couple hours would still make things that hit me for 9999, still instakill me, just for *less* damage!

Alot of things in this game seem misplaced, but I'm ok with that, I find it fun to actually face some unkown risks venturing out.

I bought it today. Originally just walked in to return my broken guitar for guitar hero, the guy working there was playing FF3 and so I ended up leaving with that and the new eq2 expansion in my bag

Was the thing that attacked you in the caves and have 1 hp? That thing is unkillable unless you control it and make it attack itself (which you will die many times attempting). That's how it was in FFV at least, he gave you 5 ability points instead of gil and exp though... awesome mob

There's that old saying, "Don't go grocery shopping hungry." I'm not sure what the videogame-shop equivalent is, though.

You'd be surprised what a couple job lvls and 1 leather shield can do.

Unless I am thinking about something else, I used to kill these simply with a cursed sword that hit everything for 1 dmg.

That's likely, I don't remember much of the game or a cursed sword

Picked it up last night, played for about 30 minutes, so I haven't gotten too far; I think I quick-saved right after entering Kazus. So far I dig it, you can't really complain about a decent 3D FF title that runs on a handheld. Just wish they had done more with the top screen or touch pad, it's not like it's hard to come up with tens of ideas off the top of your head...

Be careful with quicksave btw. My friend quicksaved and then accidently hit new game and his quicksave went poof, leaving him like 2 hours behind his normal save. Pretty amusing to me but he was pissed.

So far I really like it. Very oldschool, though. So basically, if you don't like oldschool, die in a fi... I mean... Don't buy it.

Then again, you may like it anyway. It has some kinda charm to it.

I love how it throws you into the game immediatly. The beginning is actually fairly hard. I died in the mithril caverns or whatever immediatly and had to go farm a bit before I could stop dying in 1 hit.

Yeah, I've heard of a lot of people walking into caves and getting owned. I steared clear of them when I got the game.

But yeah, the game will beat your ass if you go somewhere you're not supposed to go. :P

Oh lolz I didn't know I wasn't supposed to. That's the last thing I played before taking a break. First time I walked immediatly to the forest area too and got owned by two berserkers. I figured now that I was owning them I could advance on, but those skeletons and hairy things wtfpwned me
