The PS3 was launched in Japan this morning. On my way home from work I dropped by Akihabara and there were already hordes of people lined up outside of the big-name electronics stores. At around 9pm last (in Japan) there were multiple thousands of people crowding the Yodobashi store (huge electronics chain) in Akihabara. The employees were pleading people the leave because they weren't expecting enough units to sell to everyone and had to have police come in to monitor the situation.

The Wii launch won't be mainly as chaotic. This is primarily because they plan to provide millions of units for each country and there won't be much of a need to line up the night before. Secondly, in Japan at least, the level of interest for the Wii is nowhere near as high as it is for the PS3.

Crazy...... As much I want a PS3 I'm not sitting out that long. No fucking way. That's either plain stupidity, an incredible dedication or viral marketing by Sony. Plus he's gonna smell like outdoor not taking a bath that long.
