If that's the case, then yeah it won't be that big of a deal. I'm wondering what kind of splash it has. I'm hoping none as we have quite enough explosion spamming around corners as it is.

Maybe Snipers will get a rocket exploding bullet. This would be GREAT for fucking with Demos.

Agreed. As log as it isn't a constant fire and is more of a short range, short duration shot, it'll be awesome I think. I wonder if you'll be able to effectively dislodge stickies with it...

Thats what im wondering. Blast a whole pile of stickies right back towards their own side.

Then in the Spy Achievements give them an EMP grenade. (Had these in Planetside. Short area temporarily disabled electronics. like 5 seconds so you get past a turret, etc. And would detonate any bombs planted on the ground within its range.)

The alt-fire might also be extremely useful in taking out sentries too. Just think, you could send an uber pyro in and have him blow the Engineer away from the sentry, making it easier to destroy.

As someone who frequently plays a medic though, I have to say I'm not looking entirely forward to having yet another class that's going to be trying to separate me from the person I'm ubering. I'm hoping that the reuse time on the alt-fire is long enough where it doesn't become a huge annoyance.

That reminded me, I was going to point out that maybe that means they are working on a hunted 2.0 map.

A couple more tidbits from PC Gamer Blog: Pyro To Knock People Flying, Reflect Rockets, Crit From Behind, Get +50 Health, Pwn Utterly - PC Gamer Magazine

"the Pyro only needs 15, 20 and 25 respectively for his new toys"

"One thing he can't do is blast-jump. Designer Robin Walker says they experimented with this, but found it wasn't as fun as it sounded."

Valve rules. It'd be nice if they retroactively went and changed the Medic to this format, too.

That article also mentions the ability to use the compressed air blast against stickies.

Nice, finally Pyros can stop stickies. I like the new achievements too, they're much funner (who doesn't like lighting spies on fire)

God no one is going to play spy for weeks with this thing

Ya no fuck...I hate pyros enough as a spy, but now EVERY pyro will be igniting EVERYONE for spy checks, plus random spy checks on thin air, plus everyone will be a pyro ;/

These are really cool. I'm psyched.

I like that I guessed the ignite-from-afar replacement for the shotgun. The air blast came right out of left field and I'm really happy about that. I think a huge part of Valve's ability to add cool and innovative shit to TF2 is the fact that a lot of its developers actually play the game (and are really good at it).

Each and every time I have been back stabbed by a spy that has resulted immediately in the spies death because he did so in front of a sentry or whatever, IE he kamikazeed me just because he could, I have made it my personal mission for the entire rest of the time I am online to run around like a moron spamming fire.

I don't like the spy class at all. I appreciate a talented spy but I don't like things in games such as these that force players to camp Points that are not currently able to be capped, just because anyone that wants to can run up there as a spy and almost insta cap if it's the last point. I'm sure I'll be argued into the ground for that statement but fuck whatever, when I am playing TF2 I want to be where the action is , I don't want to be at the last CP or the next CP twiddling my thumbs waiting for random spy _ 01 to come sit on the point waiting on their teammates to cap.

That and Spies just using the class to go get their revenge kills and random kills on people they don't like that they can't kill with another class. IE I am dominating the opposing sniper opposition, and so one of them just rolls a spy and runs over to BS me then swaps back to sniper. That shit annoys me, and unfortunately because of shit like that, I hate the class entirely even though most of the good spies spend their time removing buildings and taking out key classes as the situtaion calls for it, Kill the demo that's blanketing stickies, kill the medic with the uber , kill the sniper that owning the opposition, etc etc. In those cases I am fine with it, it's when people use the class as a one trick pony to accomplish their personal grudges that cause me to sit on a pyro spamming fire and killing every damn spy I can all day long and just generally going out of my way to make their existence as annoying and frustrating as possible while at the same time bieng a hypocrite and not really helping my team out as much as I could either.

In shot I happily welcome our pyro spamming overlords, for my own part I'll just wait a week or so and enjoy wasting pyros then just unlock the shit with an unlocker or what have you , though the toys hardly seem as valuable as the default air thing that doesn't require achievements anyway,so really who cares so long as you have that.

If they change anything with spies I would hope that they do something that punishes people for abusing the class and rewards those that have put up with it's shitty design and have persevered and are rewarded for their skill with it.

PS: I fucking Hate spies.

I imagine this will last a week or two and then things will go back to normal for the most part, just like when medics got their new weapons and every team had 7 of them running around with bonesaws.

well it helps that while the game looks very cartoony its built on top of a very powerful graphics/physics engine.

The air blast repelling projectiles is not something I'm guessing most game engines are capable of.

Believe it or not, Quake 1 had some mods that were capable of redirecting projectiles with physics. either gravity wells, or repulsion buffs etc. Played plenty. not too difficult ;p

EDIT:

And to me as far as these abilities go... sounds like the class to truly get some points with is not the soldier or demo because of their pushback capabilities hindering it, but rather a sniper.. easy kills when everyone is trying the pyro.
