Super Paper Mario on GameCube

Just found that little preview in Famitsu. The game is to be released on the 3rd of August in Japan. How come I am more excited by this handfull of screenshots than by all I have seen on Super Mario Galaxy?

I'm fairly sure its not an rpg, and more or less old school 2d mario.

Has anyone tried the new mario on the DS? The 3D remake of the original? Tempted to pick that up too.

The New Super Mario Brothers on the DS is pretty easy, but otherwise excellent.

It is not, however, a remake of the original. The levels are completely different with a couple of exceptions, which are more like a homage to the original than a direct copy.

The game is absolutely stunning, probably my favorite game on the DS, knocking out Mario Kart. The game is a split between Mario 1/3 and World, with a few new mechanics to the game (giant ass mario isn't lame like I thought it would be -- it totally kicks ass). It plays like a tight 2D platformer should too.

P.S. Fuck 3d platformers. Give me pixel-precise jumps on a flat world, plz.

Maybe I'm alone with this thought, but I'd love to see a company say "fuck the graphics" and make a game that was FILLED with content like an old-school game. Imagine a game done like FFVI or Super Mario World, only 10x as long. I know it would be a lot of work to create a workable story, and lots of level design, but I think that not needed to create a graphics engine or any of that crap would really help the production costs.

I want dynasty warriors using only sprites. Or god of war in a similar fashion. I think it'd be an interesting experience.. lol.

Well, the original dynasty warrior is a side scrolling beat'em all with some scene on horse back. It's an arcade game from the 90's... ooooh never mind I just checked and what I had in mind was a Capcom game called Dynasty Wars!
