| Dark Messiah (of Might & Magic) Yea, I know, there was a thread about it last year. I'd forgotten about it long ago, so I was surprised when I saw the E3 coverage. So far, it's the lone bright spot out of E3 this year, since new info on Bioshock and Alan Wake is very weak. The Good: It's made by the same people who made Arx Fatalis which, along with the Gothic series, are the only good first person action/RPGs ever made. I don't actually think this game is a RPG at all, but Arkane Studios made a great fighting engine with Arx Fatalis and this one looks a lot better. Combat looks very brutal and, unlike the recent Condemned: Criminal Origins, it looks like there's actually quite a bit of depth to the gameplay. Environments are destructible, you can drop things on enemies or knock them off cliffs, if you try to hide from large enemies they'll move stuff out of the way to get to you, etc. And the best part: No fagged-up console version to ruin a perfectly good PC game. The Bad: Source Engine. It was buggy in HL2, and it's a fucking abomination in the games that just licensed the engine so far (VTM: Bloodlines and Sin Episodes). Expect massive audio stuttering and frequent crashes. |

| I finally got around to watching the 400MB trailer for Dark Messiah that fileplanet has up. God damn, I want this game today. And yea, Sin is not even close to worth the bother, the game itself is a step backwards from HL2 even. I wouldn't pay $20 for all 9 episodes, let alone for each one. http://www.fileplanet.com/163429/160...6-Presentation if you have a fileplanet account or http://www.gamershell.com/download_13746.shtml otherwise. | Closed beta signup - http://www.mightandmagic.com/uk/ Probably for the multiplayer part of the game, which actually sounds really cool. |
