With the last patch his nuke/heal got a major cooldown decrease so he's actually a decent nuker/healer. With a bunch of creeps has highest heal in game. He's a really good support/pusher (though in a pub you can kill with any hero).
His zombies are shit dps, they are mostly just for pushing and using to suck on his heal/nuke.

You can go pusher build witch is Vlad/AC/mek
beat down solo pub stomper farmer witch is radiance/bot + (Skadi OR sheeper)
or nuke bitch is orchard/dagon (his ult and orchard stack for MORE then both added).

Anyone able to explain the new god damn item system to me? I've had a few encounters with it that were less than stellar. I used someone else's chicken to buy at least 1 or 2 parts for Treads, and when I got them on my hero, they didn't combine. I had all 4 parts sitting in my inventory. I dropped them and re-equipped them multiple times. On like the 5th try it finally made the treads, but I honestly have no idea what was different about that try than the other 4, except possibly the order in which I picked them up.

Another example is I had a teammate who bought two Masks of Death by accident, so I said I'd buy him an item if he gave me mask. He did, and it didn't combine with the HoIW I had already bought. Is this a permanent change? It's really fucking annoying. Is there a trick to getting the items to combine?

The main gist behind the new item system is whatever YOU buy, only YOU can use. So other people can no longer buy stuff for themselves through you, and people can no longer buy stuff for each other if mistakes occur.

About the chicken, you just have to buy items on the chicken and put the items on the floor. There have been issues when you buy the items necessary for a combine all on someone else's chicken.

It's basically new code to stop item pooling in DOTA.

More importantly, its the new code that lets you buy recipes and combines when your inventory is full.

Except you still can't hand a recipe from a chicken to a player with a full inventory. At least, when I tried, it got dropped, just like always.

And I liked being able to buy stuff through people. If you die or have to heal or even just want to shop, it's nice to let someone else use you to save time. Someone tell me why this is such an issue. In even remotely serious games, can't people just say "No pooling?" What's next, they're gonna code in auto-kick if you attack a rax before the creeps are there?

That would be unlikely, since backdooring IS allowed (gay though I may think it is). Pooling hasn't been allowed forever, but it's kind of hard to know when you're playing whether the other team is or not.

It does suck if you accidentally buy the wrong item though.

Someone explained in this thread that backdooring is not allowed in tournament games. I could be wrong though. Either way I hate backdooring.

Backdooring is allowed in most tournament play unless there has been a recent change. Backdooring is a legitimate tactic. Backdooring ends stalemates.

The ONLY real "rule" of DotA is that the Prophet cannot teleport into the enemy's base.

You can press F9 and see League rules and TDA Rules both clearly state that backdooring is allowed.

Is there a way to get War3 to run in Windowed mode? Been playing a lot of TD games but some of them are slow as fuck and it'd be nice to alt tab to browser easily while still watching it.

Is there a good place for a beginners guide to DotA? I tried giving it a shot a few months ago. I picked a random hero, poked around the town and saw 400 things for sale and basically just quit out. It would be nice to get a little help before I start jumping in games and buying shit that doesn't even help my character.

you can play it single player against AI opponents... witch is what i'd recommend for a game or 2 before you went in versus humans.

Add me on east (Hedgemo) or on aim (bobertmcc) and you can join with myself and Amzin a couple times to learn the ropes. We usually win 4vs5 anyway so having a new guy won't be too big of a deal.

lolol I'm remembering some epic backdoors on the UD base. There were enough trees that you could hide in them waiting for summon cooldown to go in with a full summon army.

I should get into dota again.

You can always add me, skjaybe, on East or West and I'm happy to help you learn some builds. That's the key; the game is about memory. Once you know every character and every character's moves, and then at leat 1 build per character, you'll start to get good. It sounds daunting, but it goes quickly. I recommend picking one hero you think you'll like and stick with it for at least a week, learn an item build really well. As you get better you'll see certain people wtfpwning you with certain heroes. Start picking those heroes; learn their moves.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that any good player has every single move memorized, not from flashcards but just from a game played with every hero and against every hero. My friends and I know every item, its cost, the items it takes to make bigger items from memory. We know every ability and what to expect from every enemy hero.

Simple solutions are the best, add -windowed to the end of the path in the shortcut, outside of the quotes.
