May 3, 2006 - While certain advertisements on IGN had hinted that Blizzard Entertainment would be showing Diablo 3 at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, it's unfortunately untrue. Through a gap in communication, the IGN Insider promo mistakenly implied that the game would be part of the coverage offered at next week's convention. Sadly for us all, this was simply a production error.

Blizzard has no plans to show Diablo 3 at the conference, as they had told IGN editorial in the past. The developer is focusing all of their energy towards promotion of the first World of Warcraft expansion -- The Burning Crusade -- and will save any announcements they may or may not have planned for a later date.

IGN would like to apologize for any misunderstanding the advertisement may have caused. Look for all of the updated info on World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade from E3 next week, and all new Blizzard products as they're announced in the future.

I like the wording of "no plans to show Diablo 3 at". I thought they were still saying that diablo3 is just a myth and no plans were in works to do it. So yes blizzard is working on d3 now? It would be the smartest thing in all honesty. You sell 6 million wow boxes, then you make a game and advertise it as a very even more cassual game to sell to the same crowd, and hey you can even advertise in your own game!

I put my ear to the ground and heard that housing won't be in WoW because it is going into D3... when I heard that I said WOW! and it wasn't a good kind of excitement.

While it would be cool to go from Arthas to Diablo the level of family friendlyness warcraft has would not permit a good job. Diablo is meant to be dark and gritty, and if the game is anything but the same perspective of the other two I'd hope it would be rated mature.
