| I'd be willing to wager that bloom will be a toggle like it is in every game. Turn it off, adjust your contrast/brightness and you can probably tune the visuals quite a bit.

| I hope they embrace custom maps and mods this time. The Diablo games are already long lived, but I'd like to see what kind of stories people would come up with if they had a free hand. On top of the cool single player stuff we could get folks could re-skin the game to look how they like it and satiate those that disapprove of the art. Maybe they're right, maybe re-colored D3 would be the most popular mod. The Eastern Sun stuff for D2 is pretty interesting and cool. It could be that much better with solid support on a new release. The WC3 custom maps really gave that game 10x the lifespan for me. I realize it's a very different set-up, but it could contribute to Diablo's lifespan as well. |

| We aren't criticizing the art. Nobody is. It looks great. All that anyone is saying is that it looks different. That's it. Nobody is shitting on what they've made, they're just offering their opinion on which direction they prefer. |

+9 Internets | Diablo II looked very different from Diablo I. If these same people weren't protesting it then I'm going to hazard one of two guesses: A) They are retarded B) They were too young to play Diablo I when it came out. The dungeon art looks fantastic. The producer is right -- it has a great contrast to the outside world which, considering it's the first area and has been peaceful for a very long time, looks how it should, for daytime. I bet it looks pretty awesome when the sun goes down (assuming it does). Honestly, we've seen one dungeon which should be dark and dank enough for anyone, and one outside area which should be the most pussified zone in the game. What on god's green earth are you people fucking caterwalling about. |

the best way to describe.. i expect the same type of fun i had with the previous game but taken to another level. i don't go to a steakhouse and order pizza. pizza is good, but i go to the steakhouse for a reason. and don't get upset when i complain about the pizza. | |

Whats going to happen when the gameplay gets critiqued? Heads will explode? The only nerd rage I see in this thread is the valiant defenders of team Blizzard. The responders are the ones overreacting. Its a simple difference in opinion, and both sides are completely valid. Read the last part again incase you weren't sure. Look at which side is slinging the personal insults and all-out attacks per the usual FOH bullshit discussion format ![]()

+3 Internets | There are some cool gameplay tweaks that no one is talking about. It's like Blizzard took a look at the D2 gameplay and said "What are some of the most annoying things, and how can we fix them?" Auto motherfucking gold pickup. The gameplay video showed gold being picked up just by the character walking over them. Nice. Auto item highlights. When an item dropped, it's name was visible automatically and then faded away after a couple seconds. This is awesome. Using alt to highlight items in D2 was a godsend after not having the feature at all in Diablo 1, but have you really thought about how much time you spend using the alt key? You tend to press alt atleast every item a mob dies. Think about it, that's a lot. Single-sized item inventory. I'm sure somewhere, in some player base, this will piss people off (OH FUCK THEY WOW-IZED THE INVENTORY!), but I'm all into it. Fuck inventory management. It shouldn't take 5 mouse clicks to put an axe in my inventory. It's like a sorting and categorizing mini-game, what the fuck? We don't know the specifics yet, but we do know there are bag slots and from that we can assume we will get more space than we had before. Right off the bat, this seems to keep with the trend of making the game less annoying. Also, going to town repeatedly slows down the action, and they are trying to keep the game fast paced. Ever cleared a room and had a few chests both packed with loot? The completionist in me implores me to take 3 trips to town just to sort that shit out. Picking up and selling loot is a lot less of an issue at higher levels since most of the time you'll never pick up a plain magic item or most rare items even, but this change is more for the larger player pie chunk which is "hardcore enough to not be casual but probably won't be ladder racing to 99" |

+7 Internets | My favorite change, by far, is the health globes. I can't stand potions. I don't like feeling like I have to rely on consumables, which end up taking up half my inventory and half my money. They say there will still be potions, but I'm hoping they'll have some method of making them a nice little side effect rather than a focus like in the previous games. Though, I certainly wouldn't mind if they just removed them all together. |
