Seems more like fan-service for loyal Bliz fans. I'm sure it will sell well but probably won't come close to competing with cross-platform mega releases like Call of Duty/GTA etc.

It'll be huge. But nothing like the moneymaker WoW is for Blizzard (well unless they start charging for battle.net). As for me, I was a big fan of D1, I was okay with D2. I'll buy and play D3 run through a couple of chars to the end and that'll be that. Only MMOs and true RPGs can hold my interest past say 40 hours of gameplay. But hey I'm certainly looking forward to those 40 hours of D3 ;-)

Truth be told, I would have been a significantly more excited over a Diablo MMO. Not that it isn't out of the question at some future date ;-) Anyway, it's at least 2 years away so not going to worry to much about it now.

Don't have D2 installed any more, but I'm willing to bet there are still several thousand players a night on Battle.net in D2, and it is a 2D game.

That might have a lot to do with the fact that Crysis multiplayer and UT3 in general are fucking horrible. People do play games that are not online you know?
Like I said, I'm sure it'll sell well, but it's not going to be a huge cash cow like WoW.

Obviously it's changing with the hotbar and it'll be more MMO like. I'm honestly going to miss mouse wheeling to skills. But honestly, in D2, you didn't need many skills. Most of the times it was 2 to 3 max.

If you watched the gameplay trailer, he said that you mouse wheel skills still. Which was a horrible interface and I hope the hotbar is significantly improved. You could already do a degree of remapping in diablo 2 and it helped significantly.

We have not nailed any specifics yet, but what we've found the diablo series are not very friendly to mod, b/c of random nature. Very complex to get content into it. Not a big focus for us. Haven't decided if we going to do anything like that.

Fuck, who answered this? This man is an idiot. Both Diablo 1 and 2 had healthy mod communities. The fact that the game is randomly generated lends itself better to mods because you DON'T have to build an entire game map like with FPSes.

I'm always amazed at how blizzard unveils these games that look completely done and polished, yet still take 2+ years to finish and release.

Some people in this thread are so negative it's ridiculous. My entire highschool career was consumed by Diablo 2, and before that it was Diablo 1. I have waited so long for the day to come where Diablo 3 was announced, it's incredible. If they put out the same graphics as D2 with a new game, I think it would top the charts still.

I really didn't think they'd have gameplay videos up at all, glad to see the Barbarian is still whirlwinding and jumping around though. This could be the best day of my life.

d2 has a lot of mods. i'm playing the eastern sun mod now and it's pretty good. i'm sure it required a shit ton of work.

i hope they don't abandon pet/minion builds

I dont know if its the size of the screenshots vs the video's, but the movies look MUCH better than the screenshots convey.
