Last time I checked it out, like a year ago, it was still restricted to the shitty 800x600 it released as. Even then, it was crap(was already using like 1280x1024 or whatever it was), and it sure didn't age well.

As for the classes discussion, I hope we get a monk type. The 2 classes they've shown, I don't like, never was a fan of barbs in games, and witch doctor looks stupid. The skills are nice in concept, but a reskin to necro and/or warlock would go a long way to not make it look shitty to me. Amazon(or archer of any kind) and monk type(or assassin with fist weapons I guess) are what I'm looking for.

Dunno what the gripes about graphics is. It does seem a little brighter but most of what we saw was outdoor. It's not much different than D2 in that area.

As far as gore and stuff, I don't think they will have any problem hitting the M rating. That dude getting bitten in half was sick. Those bloated things exploding into maggots. Thousand Pounder dissolving into blood and bones and goo. Looks like the edge is still there. I think people are just so desensitized to it these days. I mean, when you can fuck a hooker and kill her to get your money back then a little corpse-poking seems rather tame.

The good news is that you're still alive. The bad news is that that's the good news. Also, you have no legs.

That is Blizzards worst cinematic. It's completely generic, poorly written and it doesn't even say a thing about Diablo. I thought I was watching the intro for the latest piece of shit Korean mmo.

The game itself looks decent. I thought the Diablo series sucked outside of production values so I'm not excited over this.

It seems a bit more stylized than D2 - more akin to Warcraft/Starcraft. I think the stylized nature may make the game not look as dark, because it doesn't look so gritty/realistic. Also, the character seems to remain well-lit, which lessens some of the "darkness."

However, the dungeon they showed in the class gameplay video looked plenty dark-enough for me, and I'd imagine it's not even close to the darkest dungeon we'll see in the game.

I doubt it too, but I don't think I really want to have to worry about getting knocked off bridges and such. Even the occasional destruction, with the added physics, adds to the game's bad-ass factor, though.

the graphics aren't bad, per se, they just don't seem to have the diablo-esque feel i was hoping for. they're actually extremely similar to WoW from what i've seen. the indoor environments remind me a lot of the undercity and such.

95% of those kids will look at the system specs and choose Diablo 3. High-system spec gaming is deader than ever. A circa 1998 HL1 graphics engine is still the most popular FPS on PC. I believe #2 FPS if you include consoles, since Halo3 gets 200-300k players at any point during the day.

Don't have D2 installed any more, but I'm willing to bet there are still several thousand players a night on Battle.net in D2, and it is a 2D game.

Looks like Lut Gohlein is fucked

Btw go watch the teaser cinematics for some of the other blizzard games, they all suck and sometimes don't even make it into the game.

Also the Shop owner is going to look at them like they are MORONS when they ask "Whats this D3 thing?". Then the shop owner will take them into the back, and show them the Shrine they have to Diablo, Lord of Destruction. BAM! new convert.

It's #21 on Xfire, ahead of games like EVE and BF2142. Though it's likely seeing a resurgence due to all the rumors of the last few weeks.
