Cinematic really wasn't that great.

Generic "it has been said" speech, nasal sing 300 music, panning LoTR army march, character that looks like a lineage 2 model acting surprised.

As for the graphics, idk. Looks like Neverwinter Nights I guess.

ZOMG. D3 would be fucking amazing if they gave you a world editor.

I don't care what the fuck you morons think but D3 will be a big hit. It will also be a great game like all blizzard games before it.

It'll be big, sure. Almost everyone that's really into PC games will play it. It's not going to be industry defining like WoW.

Yeah I wasn't feeling the Final Fantasy Advent Children CGI character either. Looked REALLY out of place. I actually said "what??" out loud.

I thought the D3 announcement cinematic would top SC2, but nope...SC2 by far was better.

They should have had deckard cain or someone do the voiceover for D3. The generic "dramatic sounding female" voiceover just wasn't Diablo at all. I think this intro is well deserving of some serious bashing, and that could even be an understatement.

By defining you mean makes the genre bigger, or grows it exponentially? Or do you mean revolutionary.

Blizzard has almost never done anything revolutionary. What has always made them successful is taking something that works and then polishing it and adding personal touches to it until its extremely fun.

Nothing in D1/D2/SC1 was revolutionary, at all..Yet they were all "genre" defining games.

I'm saddened by the art direction. Diablo should be way, way, waaay darker than this.

It all looks too cartoonish to me.

Went back and changed it to just industry defining. Yeah, D1/D2 were genre defining, in a very very small genre. Diablo, Dungeon Siege and Titans Quest and that's about all the games in that entire genre.

This.

I also wish they had saved the "Stay a while, and listen" for this years WWI instead of using it last year.

Given diablo1&2 sold quite a few million copies I don't think Blizzard can go wrong doing it as a fan service. Even if only half buy it Vivendi will be pleased with the results.

Actually the entire genere of point and click action RPGs could be accredited to it, Games such as Guildwars are basically doing the same thing as Diablo's control scheme with 3d graphics and a moveable camera. So most of the Korean RPGs could also be seen as having their roots here

Anyone want to speculate who the boss is at the end?

I said right after I played through the Diablo II expansion that if they made another Diablo it would have Tyrael as the end boss from being corrupted by the fragments of the worldstone puncturing him. Anyone else care to speculate?

You mean ActivisionBlizzard. :P

And no one said fan-service is bad. MGS4 already sold like 3 million copies and it's basically 25 hours of fan service on a system that relatively no one has.

Dunno. He currently is taking up quite a bit of the D3 site, being the main splash thing once you actually get in it.

I've always thought he was a bit creepy, even without anything like that. I wouldn't be surprised if he's a baddie, period.

Aaaaaand Vivendi owns ActivisionBlizzard. ActivisionBlizzard takes the places of Vivendi Games. Not Vivendi itself.
