| If WOTLK came out right now I'd buy it because: 1) WoW is fucking boring right now. My preferred class sucks. I'm crying. 2) AOC was a let down to my small group of friends. 3) Hellgate, TR and LOTRO are ghosttowns bogged down by my not giving a shit about them at this point. 4) Nothing much on the console front. Still holding my breath for the amazing RPG breakthrough X360 will have and PS3 is obviously of course going to supposed to have. Any day now. It's totally different than the original XBOX. Right. 5) Civ rev basically sucks, can only play so much Civ 4. 6) Mythos isn't done. SC2 doesn't exist. I'm a developer and essentially experience only matters in the planning and restructuring phases. Experienced developers? Uh, in case you were wondering the ducks are all in a row at a certain point, and if one of the ducks is a "prescription coke"-addled turd they are replaced. As long as the upper echelons know what to tell the underlings to do, why and when, none of what Mist is saying means a fuck. |

And it's highly likely that whatever form that MMO decides to take, it will be only loosely related to WoW if at all. WoW2 would be competing with themselves, and exactly what SOE did terribly wrong. I'd anticipate a PVP-heavy SC MMO which poaches mechanics heavily from EVE Online, but I'm just a speculator, of course.

| Did you not read my post? A second team of programmers != a second team of content designers. No one is disputing that they have a second team of programmers working on a project, but they have years of work ahead of them before content designers will be able to do much of anything. When Blizzard announces something new, they don't show a poster, they show a video of the game up and running. If they have actually have a functioning game up and running, that means they're already doing content production on a new game and why I, personally, wouldn't bother buying an expac for an old one. And Blizzard isn't incredibly dumb. You, however, apparently are. As for a video, you can have a gameplay video out 2 or 3 years before the game is ready for release. Or, if you're 3D Realms, 4 years and counting, lol. | |

You seem to think you're so smart but what makes you think Blizzard is going to create something very similar to their existing, still highly successful product and brand it as 'next-gen?'

And even if it is any of those things, the content creation tools for WoW are still not going to be reinvented. Heavily modified and extended, sure, but there is absolutely no reason at all why those tools, the engines, etc, wouldn't be able to be improved upon and reused. But it's already painfully obvious you don't understand the development process, so I guess it isn't a surprise that you don't understand this.

| Whatever, you're fucking retarded if you think Blizzard is going to spend 100+ million dollars to compete with themselves. Especially considering AoC and WAR are both complete shit and there's absolutely nothing else on the horizon that they have to worry about. If you want my longshot bet on what the announcement is, it's Diablo 3: for next-gen mobile phones. This is considering they hired a bunch of mobile phone developers a few months back. I'm quite positive they're also working on a Starcraft MMO but aiming for a 2011-2012 release for that. Last edited by Mist : 06-26-2008 at 01:30 PM. |

And if they DO reveal a new MMO, I won't be buying WOTLK. That's just my personal opinion about my own buying habits, stop trying to argue with that. Last edited by Mist : 06-26-2008 at 01:34 PM.

I think you seriously underestimate how much money Blizzard makes, and how many employees they can hire. This isnt some indy developer with 6 people in some basement. Besides, they've already announced they have SOME kind of MMO in PRODUCTION.
