+13 Internets | I don't like it, but I do think it's a better solution to pirating than installing the stupid DRM shit. You'll have to log in to BNet to play single player as well, just like a ton of the games coming out these days. Seems to be the future, can't do anything on your computer unless you let someone else know first. |

| With the popularity of Blizzard games, I really doubt that someone doesn't crack it sooner or later. Because they still haven't told us about all the stuff the Bnet will be able to do, it's hard to judge them, but if they piss gamers off, yeah, we know what could happen. |

+3 Internets | There is a pretty huge jump between no fee and even a really small monthly fee. It just wouldn't be worth the large proportion of 'happily buy anything blizzard' that they would piss off by ad-hoc'ing a small fee onto an existing IP in genres that don't have fee's in the rest of the industry. Perhaps they could go for a fee to play in prize money leagues. I don't know how the different laws work worldwide with respect to pay to play games with cash prizes. I think Bliz will wait for their next fresh IP game to charge another sub fee though. The game can be judged purely on its merits alone (is it a game worth paying to play) as opposed to also being judged vs its previous incarnation (is it so much better than the old game that I'm also happy to throw in an extra monthly fee)

| Even a fee of 1 cent would be enough to deter many people. It's not the money.. I'm sure most of us can afford an MMO or two so even a $5 fee or 1.99 or anything wouldn't be a problem. It's just the whole process. It's hard to justify the necessity of it. Every FPS is basically free. Nearly all non-persistent online games are free. There is no precedent set for it, and I don't see people accepting Blizzard setting one. Now if they want to have a premium b.net membership that gives you a clan site, the ability to set up sanctioned, hack-free and monitored tournaments, storage of replays and all sorts of extras that is fine. Go for it. But if I have to give them a credit card just to hop in a random multiplayer game and level my Witch Doctor.. then they can fuck off. I'll pirate the game, play single player a couple of times and move on.

+78 Internets | If anything I think it is going to be a PSN, Xbox live type of service. I imagine no monthly fee but a secure setup for micro transactions and DLC. I can easily picture a more user friendly Bnet 2.0 with lots of links to various things you can download for 2.00 USD and under. Charging a subscription for something that has been free since online gaming was invented will rub a lot of people the wrong way not matter what the cost. Ton of many to be made with side grades and cosmetic things. Last edited by Hatorade; 07-08-2009 at 09:31 AM.. |

| If the fee is reasonable ($5 bucks are less) thats perfectly fine for me. A slightly higher fee for premium hack free servers would be awesome.

| The only thing Hellgate:London managed to achieve is destroying the possibility of a pay to play model for non-mmos for the foreseeable future. Battle.net is required simply to prevent piracy. |

+13 Internets | I think Hatorade's on the right track, they're trying to develop a STEAM type distribution and hosting service. Since they merged with Activision I'm betting they will use it for all the games distributed by the new company. |

East Ladder. Seems kinda pointless since I always ditch chars once they reset ladder, and I suppose it will probably reset sometime within the foreseeable future here. I'm just tryin to build up a char to run pits/meph or something, and then farm that shit to build up some forum gold on d2jsp, so when ladder resets I can crank out a nice char pretty quick.
