Spellforce 2: Shadow Wars Has anyone else played this? Surprised there is no topic on it yet. As someone who plays through a ton of games, this one is the best all round games in quite some time. Sleeper hit of '06 imo.

I played the demo awhile back, it is kinda diablo 2 meets warcraft 3, interesting, but the RTS elements are kinda annoying actually, I hate managing a party of 5 heroes with cool abilities and having to deal with a bunch of crappy infantry on the side, makes micromanaging a lot tougher. Overall, what I played was pretty fun though. The downside: I have a good computer, and I still had to play on low settings. The game still looked impressive. The demo crashed frequently... maybe they got the bugs worked out in the regular game, but some levels of the demo were unplayable due to crashing.

I really liked how they managed the use of abilities in the game. Its so simple, yet its never been really done well before. You click an enemy and your hero's ability buttons change to attacks/debuffs. You click an ally unit and they change to buffs/heals, you click no targets and they change to general/AE abilities. It made it very easy to heal, nuke, buff on the fly, etc very quickly a cinch. It is very Dungeon Siege/Diablo meets WC3, but its the best of both without the annoyances of either it seems to me. Tons of content, items, and sidequests. Lots of branches on how to take your hero. All round A+ game.
