Battle Chess?

Does anyone know of a battle chess game? There was this old one, where the pieces would actually fight out the battles, it looked really cool. Does anything like that exist? Maybe with some high tech animations or 3D art? I'm looking for a game where they animate the "battles", basically. Thanks to anyone who can help.

That was pretty retarded back in the days... wait for hours for the game to decide its move AND wait for hours on capture animations to load...

I would rather play a chess-like game like Archon with battles you actualy play.
