| Want to make your own game? http://cgi.ebay.com/Video-Game-Devel...cm dZViewItem With all the MMORPG's hitting the market over the next few years, why not make your own? Or maybe the RPG game of your dreams. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote from Shacknews.com: Ever wanted to make your own game? Well, ever wanted to think up your own game, and have a preassembled team of experienced developer design and prototype it for you? Got lots of money? If so, you're in luck. Currently up on eBay is an auction offering the services of an entire game development company for 90 days, during which time the team with conceptualize your design, create assets, flesh out the story, and build a functional game that you can theoretically use to secure further funding for a full-scale title. The price? Bidding starts at $150,000.00, with a buyout amount of $200,000.00. That's over $2,200 a day, but hey--you are paying a whole lot of salaries. Q: I have a three part question. First, where would the team work out of - telecommute or in my garage? Secondly, does winning entitle me to work you guys like true gaming industry slaves on 16 hour shifts so the game can actually get done on time? (I run a different ship than Sony, ladies!) Lastly, can the PR person who planned this stunt also be on staff? I want some suggestions on my site www.Destructoid.com!!! (I'm posting your auction on my gaming blog to help you spread the word.) A: Part 1: We would work remotely. You would be flown out periodically to meet with the team. You can work out of your garage if it helps. Part 2: 16 hours would be a welcome abbreviation of our normal schedule. That's why we have a producer for the project. Part 3: Yes. Suggestions for your site however will be in a separate auction. The team offering the unique product claims to have a combined 60 years of development experience, with 27 shipped games between the members. Such titles include Tribes 2, The Red Baron, BattleTanx, DarkStalkers, and others. Based on the provided information, a few internet sources have hazarded a guess that the team offering its services is Oregon-based Tesseraction Games, a ten-member studio whose list of completed games shares several in common with those cited on the eBay page. It is possible that Tesseraction, formed in 2002, is using the endeavor to fund a larger internal project, if it is indeed the studio in question. -------------------------------------------------------------------------

+10 Internets | That's a pretty original way to raise money I guess... work for someone else during 3 months and have enough money to work on your own project for 3 months. And who knows, maybe the project of the crazy millionaire is a good one?

| I don't know, 3 months sounds like a stupidly small amount of time to get anything worthwhile accomplished, seeing as how many games take 2-5 years to make. Also, 60 years of experince combined seems extremely small. That could be 20 people with 3 years each, or 5 with 12 years each. Either way that seems weak to me. However, if you were some super rich person, I guess it could be fun. Some new experience I guess.

+10 Internets | You cannot make a AAA title in 3 months, but you can do many things still.

| Wow. I am so going to do this to fund my dream game, which I've tentatively and elegantly titled "Xenogears Teams Up with Millie and Jack Bauer and That Girl from Alias to Fight Nazi-Communist Terrorists In Space." I suspect there is a huge market for such a game. |
