SiN Episode 1 pre-order discount

They have a discount now for pre-ordering Episode 1. http://www.sinepisodes.com/

For those of you interested, some more game info by someone who used to work at Ritual (an obvious shill, but good info nonetheless): http://blogs.smugmug.com/onethumb/20...-sin-episodes/

Basically, it brings some very cool stuff to the FPS genre:

1 - Episodic content. Allows the game designers to adjust things between episodes and make the game better for each new episode
2 - Distributed electronically. You can buy a box at the store, but it basically just puts you on Steam. More money for the game developers, less for the guys distributing their game (developers usually have to give about 50% of revenue from sales to distributors).
3 - Dynamic difficulty. If you're hardcore and getting headshots, the NPC's put on helmets and get tougher. Ritual said they put a professional CPL gamer side-by-side with someone who had never played an FPS before and they finished within 30 minutes of each other. Both said it felt like the perfect difficulty.
4 - ABO. Action-based-outcomes.

The SiN arcade version way surpassed the PC game. Get a group of guys taking turns on the sticks at the arcade, it was a fuckin riot of a time.

Personally, I absolutely loved Sin1CTF. I've been having a blast playing it again on Steam (SiN Episodes 1 comes with original SiN), despite the dated graphics and physics.

Heh I used to love the shareware of the original Sin when it came out. Had, for the time, nice scripting and neat stuff like the ability to use a DOS prompt on the PCs in the game.

I like the episode idea, and Steam is perfect for it... but something seems wrong if the 9 episodes are going to cost a total of $180. I guess it depends what sort of time frame they're looking at for releasing them all, and how much content is in each one.

I'm looking forward to this, but I agree about the price point. I'm hoping each episode is quite a bit of game.

Considering the first Episode supposedly has more gameplay than Gun or Black, it sounds like a good deal to me.

But I am hoping that subsequent episodes cost less and I suspect that will be the case since this one comes with SiN1 fully integrated on Steam.
