Someone mentioned this in the Lan games thread, and I was looking for a little info on how it works as far as co-op.

I'm guessing it plays via lan, with 1-3 other people who have the game?

How easy is it to just use one copy for all 4 people? Alcohol iso mounting/cd cracks/spawn installs?

I've played the demo for the Second Encounter and it was pretty cool (definitely in line with the Doom comparisons, and a lot like Painkiller too). I'd like to pick up a copy and play the co-op with my friends on lan (moving to college wednesday here, makes it even easier), but I don't want to have to buy multiple copies =P

I coop-ed through it with roomates using a single copy. Just gotta get a crack and CD-keys of the net. Really fun to coop through.

I'm a huge fan of coop, i could never get the original doom to work coop over dial-up (1994ish

) but i managed with duke nukem 3d and that shit was fun. serious sam was bad ass over the lan though, and yeah i'll just try and be useful and confirm the previous post about getting a crack. as for where to get one, maybe www.gamecopyworld.com they usually have all the no-cd cracks.

serious sam 2 demo is out tried it and not really impressed weapons are generic and gameplay involves killing everything to get to the next area.

HA fuck you bitches I knew the game sucked and it does. Rating are like 50% out of 100% and 6.7 out of 10. The main complaint was it was to GENERIC the weapons looked all big but did shit the the enemies. No holes no nice knockbacks no nothing they just die or fall apart.

Try 76 out of 100 (metacritic) which is a pretty good score. I haven't tried it yet, but most of the reviews seem to be hating on it for the very same things that got the first two games a 90ish score.

Killing shit in most FPS is satisfying. There is just something boring and flat about the game. It really does just feel generic. Like I have does this before some 6 years ago. Maybe I just use to some type of physical reaction to things. Like in halflife and unreal. No matter what you hit a mob with it reacts and dies the same way....that shit got boring in like 3 mins.

SS2 is for people who want a game like the old school FPSes -- Doom 1 & 2, Duke Nukem, etc.

You should get F.E.A.R. instead, that sounds more like what you're looking for (and it's an excellent game).

I like the original Serious Sam, I may have to pick up SS2 at somepoint, but for now Painkiller is still amusing me plenty. Massive zombie trooper zerg + rocket launcher = good times.
