| I have always enjoyed the Elder Scrolls series. However, the combat encounter system needs improvement. It was boring, repetitive, and lacked any imagination from the designers of such a great game. I sure hope they have improved it. From the video it appears to have been improved a little, but I can't tell to what degree. At least it appears as though you can wield a weapon and cast spells at the same time. That's new for them. The blocking system seems a little more interesting. But I sure hope that's not all they did to improve the combat. Always a great game nonetheless. Just my opinion.

+4 Internets | Meh, Morrowind had "amazing" graphics for it's time as well. At least, amazing environmental graphics. Character models were pretty poor, their texturing was fucking atrocious, and their animation was pretty damn awful as well. Not to mention, that graphics run like a dog on even relatively modern hardware. And the gameplay was, from the few hours I spent on it, incredibly shallow. Let's see, I click the mouse button over and over and over again to attack. That's some awesome combat engine there guys. And that doesn't even begin to get into all the terrible game balance that allowed people, if they knew what they were doing, to finish the game in a matter of minutes. Maybe they've learned their lesson and made a game with halfway decent play. But Morrowind was just a straight up shitty game. |

+6 Internets | Engine is looking good, but jesus christ their animators are retarded. Everything they've shown so far in that area is lacking so much it's actually confusing as to how they're so competent in some areas and talentless in others. It looks to be one of the first releases to show off shader model 3.0 though, so I'll be playing it no matter what. I enjoyed Morrowind on a certain level, but it wasn't amazingly fun. I'm predicting Oblivion will be similarly averagely fun but with the goddamn-pretty factor cubed, at least.

+12 Internets | they say combat is now real time. Meaning If you block you block if you attack and are in range you will hit. Your stats depend on your damage however. I don't give a shit about swinging the sword. I always have played either a rog type with bows or caster. Sword play in morrowwind never was appealing. The whole shadow thing and attack from the darkness reminds me of thief. I have a 3ghz comp with 1g ram and a 256 MB DDr graphics card I would be lucky if I could play the game with half graphics on 800X600 resolution

| If they made a game like Elder Scrolls, but with more of an urban world (yano, all/mostly city)... like GTA medieval, maybe with "dungeons" ala CoH (sort of), I could see it kicking some ass. I didn't like Morrowind though. Boooring ![]()
