| Day of Defeat: Source The HL1 classic Day of Defeat was retooled for Half Life 2. It was released last night. It's different, but still fun. It's not free, but it's cheap $19? http://www.steampowered.com My server: 65.254.46.211:27015 |

I played about three hours last night. I noticed a few differences, here they are: * Garand and Kar personnel no longer have pistols or grenades. Instead they have grenades that attach to the end of the rifle and you can shoot long distances. Also, both have iron sights. You have a knife in your right hand, you can slice and also punch with the left. * BAR has two grenades, no more throwing on the ground to prime, just pull the pin and hold it. That's all the troop changes I can remember. Other things like when you take a flag, it displays in the same area of the screen where the kills go, but it shows that you and X people took flag Y. Grenades that go off near you, that do not kill you make your ears ring and head wobble.

| Valve sucks, they piggy backed on the success of others.

+20 Internets | Right, because the "others" made Half-Life right? And they were forced by the "others" into actively supporting and encouraging a large mod community to experiment with new gameplay using their own technology. |

At best the original Mod was a basic template. CS on the other hand was a firmly established game, though it's most successful version was again a version introduced and maintained by Valve. I pre-loaded DoD have not had a chance to play it yet, though I hear it's a bit different than 1.3 or whatever the last version was for HL1 Engine. Some say for the better, more say for the worst, same basic opinions as CS:S source. Old School DoD players want to pretend they are badass like they are in a small group of people that discovered the game or something, forgetting that hundreds of thousands played it.And so they put the new version down, much like CS 1.6 players. Though this rhetoric is common amongst all genres of online gaming I suppose.

| I've played DoD:S for only a good five minutes, and damn did rifle users get the shaft in this one. Oh, and they broke all third party mods with the release of DoD:S. Including Dystopia. Bastards. |
