+1 Internets | MGS4 trailer In case you've died or something, and haven't heard about/seen the MGS4 trailer, here is a link to it: lanky It looks incredible. It actually makes me begin to believe the Killzone 2 trailer was real time. proof it was realtime Umm...this thread is pretty useless, but I figured I would at least create one if you guys want to start a MGS circle jerk or something. |

| It does look really nice, but I'm really dubious about the old Snake.. I mean I wouldn't mind playing a semi-old Snake with greying hair and a few more wrinkles, but this is a really old Snake coughing his lungs out. At first I was hoping the "Snake" on the trailer was not Solid Snake, but after seeing an older Otacon too.. =( Oh well, I wasn't really enthusiastic about Metal Gear Solid 3 : Snake Eater taking place during the Cold War either and yet it turned out to be one of the best games in the series.. Wait and see, but I'd much have prefered play a direct follow-up of Ocelot's escape with Metal Gear Ray and chasing him to New Outer Heaven. |

+17 Internets | Sadly the Killzone trailer isn't real time, Kojima blatently makes fun of it in the MGS4 trailer too which is pretty funny. I'd like to hope that Kojima's MGS4 engine can actually do what they're showing during gameplay and I'm pretty convinced from what he showed people with moving stuff around, but I'm not 100% sold on it yet. I do however fully expect games to look like that when people really are able to work the systems - just didn't expect it right off the bat. |

| Yeah I'll have to trust Kojima to deliver another work of art with this sequel.. I really think Kojima has great ideas and some interesting concepts for video games, just he really really needs to hire a guy whose sole job is to sit there during his "creativity meetings" and yell STOP! whenever Kojima and his goons start going too deeply into abstract philosophical hallucinative delirium.. |

| I would not doubt if the current apperance of Snake is just to throw us off. Kojima loves doing things like that. He might be coughing not because of age, but because of Foxdie. Stabbing himself in the neck with that medicine thing supports this. This is a quick Photoshop showing how easy it'd be to make him look a bit younger and more familiar.

| I thought of FoxDie too, but you have to remember... In Twin Snakes, Solid Snake does not die from the FoxDie contamination, even though Liquid Snake does. In Sons of Liberty, which takes place 5 years after Twin Snakes, Snake is just fine and dandy except that he is a fugitive terrorist. Considering that this new sequel seems to take place over 10 years after Sons of Liberty, I doubt this is FoxDie.. I seem to remember hearing in one of the games that the Genome Soldiers (including the Snakes) are not really made to last long.. they burn out faster than "regular humans" because they are mass-produced or something.. I think this injection Snake does in his neck is most likely some kind of anti-degeneration agent or something like that to keep him alive until his mission is complete.. (from the looks of it that would be his last mission). By the way, it's pretty nice how much old Snake looks like Big Boss.. then again it makes sense since the Snakes are clones of Big Boss. The cyber-eyepatch has me wondering though. While I'm quite certain it's there mostly to emphasize the resemblance between Solid Snake and Big Boss, I'm wondering whether Solid Snake lost that eye and this is a sort of replacement eye, or if that is some sort of high-tech visor system that also records what he sees for his agency. I would prefer the former hypothesis of losing that eye between Sons of Liberty and this sequel, as that would probably allow for a lot of flashback action with a younger and ass-whoopin' Snake.

| Only thing I thought was wrong was the Mechs. The legs on them look a little gay.

| At first I had the same "weird" feeling about the Mechs' legs.. Then I noticed the way they move and even some of the noises they make, and the more I looked the more it seemed to me they were kind of bio-cybernetic weapons. Last we knew in Sons of Liberty, the Metal Gear RAY series were able to think for themselves and independently from the Metal Gear Arsenal main unit... Who knows what else could have been engineered in the following decade? I think hybrids of animals and machines are likely, and that may be one of the few examples in that trailer right there. Either that or I'm just on crack. |

| Why exactly are we amazed at the "real-time" part of this? The "busy" MGS2 Substance cutscenes already look almost exactly like this on my computer, which is neither a dedicated machine nor as powerful as the main PS3 chip or GFX card, unless that ASF encoding is diluting some mega mega tiny detail features I'm missing I think some of you are letting the (stellar as always for MGS) direction and production quality confuse you as to why exactly these scenes look good. |
