+1 Internets | Rise of Nations and Warhammer 40K are two of the best over the past couple years. The RTS genre seems like it's about to take the next evolutionary step though, with some absolutely amazing-looking games on the horizon, so you might want to hold off for a little while and check these out when they finally hit: Rise of Nations 2: RoN2 Age of Empires 3: AoE3 |

| I agree with Rise of Nations, pretty good game Warhammer 40k was pretty fun as well, I only played the beta, but it seemed pretty fun, I think it's one of the few strategy games where a "hero" type unit actually last more than 30 seconds Empire Earth II is also pretty good, the only downside is, once you get nuclear bombers the game becomes too easy But hey, at least the first 12-13 epochs are a lot of fun, I still play it often

| I'll throw a nod at warhammer 40k. I wasn't familiar with its lore until I played the game and it is like starcraft knocked up warcraft, resulting in the bastard that is warhammer. The game is made by the same people that did the Homeworlds (another great pair of strat games.) I don't know if anyone has ever played this game, but if you liked the command & conquer series you *have* to try it, it is awesome. IMO it is what c&c generals should have been. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/...l?q=act+of+war |

| Warhammer 40k rules, bigtime. Gameplay wise it's probably my favorite RTS. It's way too short though. Maybe I was spoiled by wc3, but I was damn damn pissed when there were no chaos/eldar/ork campaigns. |

| Hehe I guess I should have credited Warhammer as being the first, I did know that. I figured that if I described it the way I did more people that visit these boards would likely try it out. Expansion just came out, I hear it is good. |

+30 Internets | I haven't played an RTS to this date that captures the simplicity and allows for the tactical genius that Total Annihilation does. It is, quite simply, the best RTS ever made.

| Tactical genius? You mean build a Krogoth, then win? Or build two buzz-saw towers/vulcan cannons to hopefuly fend off a Krogoth, then win because they spent all their res on a Krogoth? |

| Dawn of War: Winter Assault rocks. Chaos is no longer a CSM spam, which is anything but bad. I'm loving the Imperial Guard, but that's mostly because I like playing defensively in my RTS' and they definately allow you to do that with the IG. Relic definately made it a more complete game with the addition of the IG and the balancing passes on the rest of the races. Dawn of War is truly one of the best RTS games in years. PS. The new animations are killer!(pun intended) |
