Advance Wars is def the killer app but if it doesn't float your boat it can be very tedious.


The problem with it is that once you "try" a board, you will easily pass it the next time if you happen to lose, just because you can see what the AI will tend to do.

A lot of the flash is annoying as well and could have been streamlined. Once you get used to what each unit does it goes much better.

The nice thing about it is that there are a bunch of different ways of playing (even an action mode that lets you deploy and move around in real time, not grid based).

All in all Nintendo DS is basically pretty solid. It'd be nice to have a battery meter when you're playing a game, or for the DS to be able to sniff for other DSes... or where the fuck is internet support to play any/all of these games over the net?

PSP snoozes in that regard too. ALL OF THESE GAMES should be playable over the internet. What the fuck?

As far as Nintendogs. It's rather bizarre just because its a pretty robust sim. The AI of the dogs is awesome but they had to "gookdafy" it (http://minoritiesforwhiteamerica.org/index.php?p=368) and put things in there that make it bizarre. Shrug.

Meteos is good, but its annoying in that the "challenges" they have you do are luck based more than anything else.

Nanostray could have been so good. At least its an old school shooter, but unfortunately the touchscreen is just too far away from the buttons to really use it as "more buttons" to push with your thumbs.

Kirby's is really, really nice. Only problem is that it is either really small/shortl or it shows the limitations of the machine.

Polarium is a waste. Good premise but the modes are obnoxious (where the fuck is lumines?!)

XX/XY for the jap fetishist in you. Pretty obnoxious but you have to at least go through it once.


My only justification for the DS is that all the old faves are supposed to come to it (final fantasy, lunar, castlevania, civilization...) some new ones (the surgery game, the lawyer game, some of the adventure games look interesting)... and I have a flash ram $20 and old GBA $25 so i can play any of the 2,500+ gba games uhhh that I legally own on the thing.

PSP has been a let down. if Hotshots golf was internettable easily my opinion would change.... the Metal Gear cardgame based game is pretty cool... nothing else on PSP right now is any good.
