I've been tempted to try the Privateer Remake project, but haven't gotten around to it.

| and deus ex is still a shooter. probably the best (singleplayer) one ive ever played. but having an inventory and skills doesnt make it an rpg. deus ex 1, system shock 2, alien vs. predator 1 and halflife 1 are my favourites. |

| gotta agree with vorph here, ps:t is the best. Not fronting to the BG, planescape is that good. And fuck xenogears, that game sucked. All console "RPGs" do. (from a rpg standpoint...good stories none the less.)

| Sean let me correct you. Xenogears DISC 1 is great. Disc 2 = The developers got lazy + they ran out of money. Had to love how they devoted gameplay/graphics to minor plotpoints, then glaze over "And there was a war and the world blew up and tons of ships exploded" with half a fucking paragraph. But remember, Xenogears is Chrono Trigger's kid technically ;P Alot of the same dev team...hell, Lucca is in it ;P

+3 Internets | I'll skip Half-Life 2, cause while no words do it justice you guys hate my preaching about it :-( I’m going to make this one of those long, needlessly organized posts. So, excluding many many great games and in no particular order here’s a few, and I’m sure most of you have played these, but still... Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES, developed by LucasArts) - I think pretty much everybody has played this game, but it's just one of those that reminds me of the good gaming back in the 16 bit days. I had so much damn fun playing it with friends. Pretty much any old LucasArts game kicks ass though, ignore anything you've disliked that was associated with them recently and go back to their 80's and 90's games if you've never played them. ![]() Blast Corps (N64, developed by Rare) - Maybe it was just me missing something, but when this came out it seemed like there had been some sort of drought in console gaming originality and Blast Corps was a super fun alternative. Driving around breaking shit was fun back then, even on the moon. Rare usually kicks ass so no surprise there. ![]() Panzer Dragoon (Saturn, developed by Team Andromeda [Sega]) - This includes the other Panzer Dragoon games, including Saga. As shooters they were fun and brought back memories of Space Harrier. In RPG form it kicked ass on levels very few RPGs have managed to. The art style has always kicked ass too. (from Zwei) ![]() NiGHTS into Dreams (Saturn, developed by the Sonic Team) – I remember driving with my Dad for two hours to get this when it came out. Had to wait around for a day and sit through a two hour drive home before I got to play it. I was messing around with the analogue controller it came with and reading the instructions in the car all the way home. It disappointed some people I hear, but I loved that game to death. So simple and so imaginative. I remember playing it the first time and thinking for a split second, “is the ground supposed to sink under my character?” cause I hadn’t seen anything like it before. Sega in the days before most big companies were afraid to be creative. ![]() Shenmue (Dreamcast, developed by AM2 [Sega]) – Don’t care what anyone says, this game was sweet. And pretty as hell. And you could play After Burner and Space Harrier! ![]() Halo 2 (Xbox, developed by Bungie) – Just Kidding! ICO (PS2, developed by SCEI – Thirded, fourthed, whatever. Deserves another mention. ![]() Some of these bring back so many memories, and there are so many more. PC games have been getting pretty good coverage so far, so I ignored them. I agree with a lot of what was said in that area already. But Vampire: Bloodlines just isn’t that great on any level, your obsession is strange, Vorph.

| might try ico after whats been said about it. as for game reccomendations baldurs gate 2 is very close to ff7 as the best rpg ever, there are so few things wrong with both of those games. civilization 2 is extremely addictive. heroes of might and magic 3 is so much fun as well. the 4th one is okay, i kinda like it but some dont. |

Instead of naming games most people have already played, I'll name something a bit more current - Psychonauts. This was actually made by the same guy who made Grim Fandango, and not only is it actual laugh out loud funny, the gameplay is actually pretty fun too. It's one of those games that EVERYONE should play but not many do. Here are some reviews: http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/p...ts/review.html

So... yea, I agree--Shenmue was a great game. One of these days I'm going to actually sit down and play the Shenmue II import I bought for my Dreamcast like 3 years ago and never touched. :/
