+5 Internets | Project Offset http://www.projectoffset.com/ First off, yes, I know this isn't an MMO, so save it. This game looks incredible, especially considering that it's been done thus far by 3 self-funded guys in an apartment. Those graphics are on par with what I've seen for the Unreal 4 engine and supposedly runs very well on a non-super computer of the future. I really hope this takes off as we are really needing a good Fantasy FPS. Some interesting snippets : Quote:

+19 Internets | Here here to the general games forum. Nobody reads General really and so most things get lost there or screenshots. Downloading the movie now, page looks cool already though. edit: wow that was amazing, I can't wait until it comes out.

| Amazing. Although it would be pretty wierd to have a FPS fantasy MMO. Maybe it will be kinda like Savage?

| Absolutely stunning. I have never seen in-game graphics that good... ever... Even surpasses the Killzone 2 demo which no one really knows if that was in-game footage or what... still, well worth the download, I'll definetly be keeping an eye on this. |

This seems like one of those awesome backyard projects that will be lost for all eternity for a lack of money. | |

| This is the kind of stuff I've been looking forward to in terms of high-end graphics. I have always heard people saying shit like "It looks so real!" in reference to some console games or even games like Half-Life 2, but I've always felt they were too "plastic", and the movements were too "sticky". The way that beast took off the helm, roared, moved it's jaw, swung the weapon, the way the dragon soared, the movement of the elf unsheathing his sword... That is photo-realism. For the love of all things sane this thing better be real.. and better not die. |

| didn't mgs2:substance only really do that in the cut scenes though? Anyways - on playing on weaker systems. Well, I know films work at the frame rate they do because of "natrual" motion blur. Movies are shot (or, released atleast. not sure on the specifics) at 24 frames per second. Your Eye can see up to about 60 frames per second. But you ask, why do movies look like real life at 24 frames per second but you can tell choppyness in a game at even 30 frames per second? Well, like I said at the start movies use motion blur to cheat and make the motion look fluid. So my guess is, even though the engine is high end, because of the motion blur the engine is able to get away with less frames and still look fluid. If anyone actually knows what i'm talking about, please explain with better detail. edit: Also, these arent' just 3 armchair programmers that decided to make a game. They were 3/7s of the team that made Savage. While that game didn't really take off, I enjoyed the demo and it shows these guys have experience. Last edited by Bralkan : 08-17-2005 at 07:29 AM. |
