| Dungeon Siege 2 anyone? Kinda suprised no one has made a post about this game so far. The demo came out a while back and it was pretty good. I barely played the 1st one but by reading various message boards it has mixed reviews. The game was released today at various locations. I was wondering if anyone else picked it up and what are your opinions about it. |

| It looks and feels alot like the first one, there are a few differences tho. You can have up to 3 NPC henchmen (before you complete the game the first time) that has gear slots like your own character, these henchmen can also be replaced by pets. These pets can be anything from ice elementals to pack mules, and you cant equip them as such, instead you feed them gear to level their abilities. (ie. give em a melee weapon and their melee skills increase) There are also a new system keyed in with the leveling system that reminds me alot of D2, in that you gain a point every level that you can put into stuff like : +6% to combat magic damage and shit like that. Generally its a decent game and anyone that liked the first one should definately pick this one up. |

| RPGers PoV It's crap compared to the stuff we were served by Interplay/BI in the late 90s early 00s. But what else is there these days in the way of single player RPGs? Engine is meh. Not too big an upgrade, mainly because playing in 1600x means you will never be able to read again. So my big video card and monitor kind of goes to waste. Storyline? Gotta love it... Quote:
4 spheres. Nature, Combat, Ranged, Melee. So better be a hybrid unless one button is your thing. Same applies to ranged. Magic is a bit better this time around, some neat spells, and others which make no sense balance wise. For example: I get a fireball which costs 2x more than my Plasma balls. Both are Fire sphere so it's the same bonuses, yet Plasma balls do about 5x more damage and can bounce off walls, whereas the fireball is a LoS Dumbfire, you miss, you lose. Party members. You can aquire a total party of 4 during the first 2 campaigns. Then an additional slot in the final Hardcore campaign. The best and brightest spot of this game is that it entirely rips off Bahamut Lagoon. You get Pets. And these pets can be fed any item, but the quality and bonuses on the item overall apply directly to the Pet. Again if you ever played Bahamuts Lagoon you'll be set. Otherwise feed your pet whatever items you want him to be best at. Melee pet = armor and weapons, Ranged = Ranged armor +, and ranged weapons. etc..etc.. Overall I'd give the game a 6, not because it's an utter piece of shit, but simply because NO ONE IS TRYING ANYMORE. It lacks vision, desire, and was not made by old-school fans of RPGs but by someone who saw LotR once and thought it was pretty cool. Diablo fans will probably love it though. +6 Internets | It's a poor man's Diablo II, really - Diablo II with slightly better graphics and the shitty NWN camera. That's not to say I don't enjoy it, these games are usually fun, particularly multiplayer, for at least a while. But I can barely play it singleplayer. Playing on a LAN is a lot better. |

| As everyone else said it's not as good as Diablo 2, but it's still the best game of the genre we've had since Diablo 2 imo. The game has massive imbalances (my warrior soloed the snake boss after the temple of Xeria. Soloed. All 3 heads. And only drunk one potion while doing it), it's pretty bug-ridden, the difficulty is not well gauged imo since I often play like shit and barely do more than chain right click on the bosses with my war while my priest is on auto heal, my necro on auto death heads and my ranger on auto shoot and I still win 90% of fights without even having to drink a potion as long as I AE taunt, but all in all I'm having fun with it and some fights are neat like the tree boss. It's good for a couple dozen hours of mindless fun ![]() Oh, cute bug. On warrior type characters if you get taunt, you can use your long recharge abilities, switch to taunt during the cooldown time and since the game doesn't remember which ability you last used, your cooldown will be the short 15 seconds taunt cooldown allowing you to basicaly spam long recharge AE shit. | Why does Microsoft have such a hard time with SCALING sizes of text/icons... This game could run well on a crappy computer from 2000, but I can't enjoy it on any high resolution because everything is microscopic. I won't give me opinions on the game itself, because I despise most single player games. |

| I have to say, I really like what they did to DS2 when you compare with DS1. The main thing that really bothered me about DS1 were Nature Magic progression and the (censored) combat doldrum. Both are pretty much eliminated in #2, and Powers are definitely ftw, especially Combat Magic. <3 So as you might have guessed, I'll be picking this puppy up soon to occupy me for a few days. The single-player map is freaking huge in scope.

+14 Internets | Is it like Diablo2 in that you can just play through a decent campain in singleplayer mode??? Or do you need to play online? Or is it like NWN where you get henchmen etc.... Also, I'm assuming by the comment about Azureus that you can download it and still play it? I might pick it up then.... |
