what each slot type holds (found on another site)

Type 1 - Single stat enhancements (+5 intelligence, or whatnot)
Type 2 - Multiple stat enhancements (+15HP/Mana, +3 sv FR/MR/CR, etc.)
Type 3 - Worn effects (Haste, Regeneration, FT)
Type 4 - Weapon Procs
Type 5 - Weapon Damage adds
Type 8 - Unknown (This type is on Time loot, I've never seen a Type 8 augment) i heard but dunno if its true that this involves spell shield, accuracy etc and high level foci

Logged in and did a very quick check through equipment on my main and an alt. Time loot has 1 type 8 slot, weapons have 1 type 4 slot, everything else (newbie to elemental) has 1 type 1 slot. 1150 points in mistmoore (which is apparently about 22 crawls on normal) will buy you a single +40mana type 1 aug...

Is it just me, or is this rather underwhelming? Particularly disappointed at the lack of type 3 slots, which are the ones that would be useful in balancing out FT, ATK, haste, etc. Has anyone seen a type 3 slot on non-LDoN gear?

I just logged in to chatter with the guild, apparently the adventures only give a bit more points on hard and you can buy the same augments just farming normal difficulty adventures which are apparently a total joke. Not really seeing the incentive to do hard events if the items you can obtain are the same from the same point pool, just have to farm the ass easy events more for the same reward. Supposedly the loot drops are better in hard mode, but nothing to get really pumped about if you farm Time.

Also if the above slot listings are true I have to wonder about getting any slot 2-3 augments on non ldon items, since every item I've seen which is non ldon is either slot 1, 4 for weapons or 8 on Time loot. Initial impressions looking grim!

Hard would have been worth doing had they left the loot you got in the adventure droppable.

First thing I thought when I noticed everything elemental/- was slot 1 type 1 (besides wpn) was what an awful amount of work/waste this looked like to be to add something shitty like 10 agi to an item.

This thing is gonna require some massive "crawling" to get everything augmented decently.. a quick estimate that is probably not very far off, is ~60 days of non stop crawling every day for 6 hrs at normal setting to get 800 hps upgrade total.. now add new procs and what not, and its easily 4-5 months of non stop crawling to get every augment type 1 slot decently upgraded from the merchants...

The 36 man "time" raids could be worthwhile though.. ive heard the rewards there is pretty good..

just curious but if you add a worn effect to a item who already has a effect, how does it work? adds or switches the effect?

What's shittier? 10 agility or 0 agility? Oh, waaaah! You don’t have +25 to all stats augmentations. Boo fucking hoo. For about 5 seconds of effort last night I picked up a +6 str aug and tossed it onto one of my rings. My strength isn’t maxed so why the hell not? I can now boost my stats instead of waiting for my DKP to increase so I can pick up another drop. Translation, my raid effectiveness goes up and my DKP doesn’t go down.

The AA from these dungeons is good, the augs drop at a decent rate, the cash is good, and the one I went on yesterday was pretty fun. Multiples in camp at all times, we didn’t have a chanter/bard for CC, and the overall reward (cash, xp, a few augs) was appropriate for the difficulty.

The real question is: If you do every raid and adventure only once, can you buy the highest priced item?

Ie. Do they require you to do the same adventure more than once to get a particular item?

If so, someone fucked up.

You need to have a total point at that location at least as high as the item to be able to buy it, but you can use any point to do so.

You apparently need to complete at least 2 adventure on 1 spot before you can do a raid there.

The difference between normal and hard is pretty big. At normal you can pretty much walk in destroying shit left and right with any group you can think off, but pulling 5 mobs to camp that hit for 800, mitigate slow, can ch, is another story.

It's clearly faster to get points doing normal, but more xp, and more good loot at hard (I saw a 100hp ring droped from hard, not sure about anything else).

For the buyable stuff, I assume there is a 40hp slot 1 augment somewhere in there at around 1150 pts. Will be a pain to farm that especially since you lose that stuff when you remove it. Hopefully the raid are gonna be worth it and fun, and give around 100pts I heard, so eventually you will get pts just doing "normal" raiding with guild and having the possibility to get the slot 8 augment at the same time.

I was particularly impressed by the proc you can add to the type 4 slot weapons. For tanks especially this gonna help with aggro, I saw the 500pts 200 hate proc. The one that seem coolest is the 125dd/stun ykesha proc (760pts). Anyone saw something that might be better for aggro for tanks? Like higher anger or something somewhere?

Anyway, it's a novelty, but was pretty cool for a first day yesterday.

Oh yes. Lots more than 8 (amount of zones per theme) trips per theme to get the best items / augments.

22-23 crawls just to buy one 1150 point item / augment, if you go at normal difficulty, and the 1150 items arent even the best items on the merchants i bet, its only what the beta testers was able to see with their point standings in the beta.

Now multiply by number of slots you wanna augment. Say you want to upgrade all 20 slots on your char from the merchants. Thats ~440 crawls to get an 1150 augment in each non LDON item's augment slot. At 40-50 minutes per crawl, thats quite a lot of time..

Grats SoE on turning fun dungeon crawling into boring point farming, assuming the "adventurer" has any sort of competition instinct... (meaning he want to become all he can be, like me)

Correct me if im wrong in my assumptions... i would be glad to be proven wrong.

So the advertised unlimited potential for favorite old pieces of gear are actually very limited.

It's pretty clear who here has interest in actually looking into things, and who just wants to be first on the_latest_expansion02_sucks bandwagon. There may well be honest gripes about LDoN, but they're not likely to show up on *THE FIRST DAY*. Complaints about repetition are particularly specious, since if the "once through" scenario were even close to true, if there were even a *finite* number of times to do each adventure, let alone a low number (not to even consider the number one), then there would be a far huger flaw in the expansion design. Farming is required in MMORPGs, good god!? Head on over to SSI's Pools of Radiance gold-box for Commodore if you want a once-thru game.

As it stands, the adventures are not internally tedious. The traps can be pretty funny. Art concept is solid, the cg ain't bad for a five year old game. There are visible and attainable goals, and lofty beyond-the-horizon stuff akin to uberness that casual players won't see. Loot design for the expansion doesn't immediately obsolesce all previous gear, but does provide measurable enhancement to characters. The everyman enhancements are big, the new spells are good. Raid content has yet to be explored, but from early sources, looks to be 40x to 60x the reward of casual small-group play (which is right on).

All pretty high points. Best to reserve total judgement (thumb up, or sideways? backwards? down?) for past the first day
