Shadowbane status?

I'm just curous if anyone that reads the board plays/played SB and knows how it's doing..

server numbers? bugs? (do they STILL have sb.exe errors?)
how are raids? are healer/channelers making up 75% of a server's population..

shadowbane has around 50 thousand subscribers

not great, but around the "make profit" number.

I'm back to it

After repeatedly getting kicked in the teeth with the Sony nerf stick in SWG (and no end in sight to the nerfing either) I went back to SB and am enjoying myself now that things are much more stable *shrug*

Channies/healers still make up the majority of the server population. Namely Elf channelers and centaur prelates. Shit...centaur everything now. Run speed > all in this game. Although this recent patch gave channies a nerf.

However, while the game isnt as crash happy as it was on release, it still does suck. Redraw STILL sucks. I can be standing at a bane circle, then MAGICALLY about 50 enemies will suddenly be there. Network code and engine stability should be the #1 priority of this game. While balance issues do piss people off, it doesnt piss you off as much as technical difficulties.

I still remember how eveyone was prophesizing the EQ killer in SB - the fact it wasn't vaporware when it got released amazed a lot of people, but yeah, the technical shit is still stupid - god i loved the arguments during beta of "its only beta it'll get fixed"... yeah right

I have been playing SB for a while now.
Lag is a huge issue. Nothing sucks worse than dieing to lag. Both PVE and PVP encounters really suffer from lag.

Content is the second largest issue. Most of the high level players will randomly roll low level groups just for something to do. In fact, a large part of the population believe that RPKing is what the end game in SB was designed to be.

Player building is THE ONLY tradeskill, and everyone does it. Everyone I know in game has created at least 4 other high level players. Don't like the way it turned out? Roll another one. Even with skil retrains, there are some things that cannot be undone.

Player balance -- A healer Channy can wear light armor, and with self buffs hit about 1k defense and at least 30% block. On the other hand, my meat shield Minitaur warrior with 5k HP base has only 355 defense while in offensive mode. He also hits for about 350 per swing, with about 70% hit to miss ratio. My channy can hit for 1000 at a faster rate than the warrior swings, with 95% hit to miss, and great defense. And the warrior runs out of stamina and stops swinging long before my channy runs out of manna. Which would you play?

There is alot of variety in the game, but if you are making a PVP player, you want to win. There are really few 'winning' player templates.

I really wonder if there are enough Midevil Quake players to keep SB afloat.

The on-line numbers have gone down alot lately. On the Fear server we have about a third of the players now that we did when I started playing. In my guild, there are only 4 players left that I knew from when I joined.

dude, you expected there to not be massive griefing of low levels by the first l33t d3wdz to max out? After 5 minutes reading their beta-boards I knew that game would be full of EQ rejects with chips on their shoulders.

Even DAoC suffers from the gray-camper 'tards in their frontier and DF areas, and that game does have a (albiet extremely gay) PvE side to go do when the RvR zergs are yet to be assembled.

I AM LEET, I WILL DESTROY ALL WHO THREATEN ME! WHINE MORE, PUSSIES!

Shadowbane was a great game in theory. Given the time it's been out and where it is now it'll end up being a good game that will be lost forever because of sorry bugs and ballance issues.

It'll probably go the way of Anarchy Online. Speaking of Anarchy Online. A friend of mine joined the game for the hell of it and said after all this time it's 100% stable.

The EQ killer will be the DANCE DANCE Revolution MMORPG!!!!!! FEAR IT! DANCE BITCH! DANCE!!!! j/k

I agree that ShadowBane was great in theory: multiple player-driven factions (guilds) crossed at each other in a on-going fight to dominate the world's territories, with it's innerhent internal politic struggles did sound VERY appealing indeed.

I never got to play the game seriously, but from what you guys say here it's didnt go far

Ashame. It's so difficult to release a successful MMO....

The death server was probably the most successful of them all, because it had multiple powerhouse guilds that kept eachother in balance. After the fall of one of them, though, the balance has been shattered.

The game really needs some more resource options like they've been hinting at. Cross server travel is what this game needs as well, but I do not want to see that until stability/lag is fixed.

Chaos server is the best there is right now. We have a strong alliance of the server, with two servers moving onto it, and a third in transition ot move there. If you guys come over send a tell to Krit.
