| Two things about MMORPG's and Which to Play! First, if you are looking for something to play and haven't tried DAOC, or it's been a long time. Come back and try it again! They're adding new features that really make the game stand out. Free level 20 and sometimes level 30 characters to people who have 50s on their accounts. Accross all servers + realms even! Housing is coming out soon. Trials of atlantis and a PVP expansion (free) are coming out soon. I played DAOC when it first came out, then took a year long break -- am enjoying it now. Secondly -- Anyone know what's up with Sigil Games? No one seems to mention the possibility of that being the next greatest thing. I would think people would be interested with the amazing staff they have. While I think WoW will be great -- I am really looking forward to whatever Sigil Games puts out. Wonder if anyone has any information. Anyway, would've started this in one of the 30 threads, but I wanted to start fresh with fresh ideas. DAOC + Sigil games. Woot. |

I don't know if you know how Sigil Games are working, so just to make sure, I can tell you that part of their strategy is to invite guild leaders from many of the best known guilds and ask for their input.

| Few people know much of anything about what Brad and his boys are coming up with. Since they had no presense at E3 that I know of (if i'm wrong there, please, let me know) I can only assume we still have awhile before we see what they have up their sleeves.

You can read more about it here: http://www.sigilgames.com/cat_community.php It actually sounds like they are trying to get some things right.

Oh, and amazing staff doesn't mean jack. Look at the caps or the redskins. They've had amazing lineups before but they still sucked ass and lost. Their staff doesn't hold a candle to Blizzard's.

Lol, DAoC will never be enjoyable...sowwie kiddo. The only time it was fun was during the first few months (well, up until the first december), then they started nerfing everything to shit.

It's one thing to say you're looking forward to WoW more than anything Sigil might make. It's quite another to say the team making WoW even compares to the people that were such an integral part of making EverQuest. Making a bunch of single player/non-persistent multiplayer games is nothing like putting together a MMOG. Until WoW comes out and proves it has the balance and content to keep people playing for 100+ days /played time, the guys at Sigil win. I'll be interested in whatever Sigil makes. McQuaid, Butler and co. proved to me with early EQ, at a Fan Faire, and in their actions leaving SOE, that they are actually in this business to make great games not huge profits. Thing is..their game is a few years away (just started making it in the middle of last year), so no sense getting excited about it.

| I'm also very much looking forward for what Sigil has to offer. I think it'll be very difficult for those guys to get it wrong, they proved they know exactly what they're doing with EQ. For me, my next big game will be either WoW, or Horizons. And if Sigil had one coming out around those 2, then i'd add them, but they don't. I think they'll release a great game when they do, though. |

| One good thing about Sigil Games is that they have some serious funding and good publishing/distribution agreement in place, so hopefully they won't rush their first game out.

| Am I the only person who doesn't think Sigil's staff kicks ass? The old staff brought us unfinished Luclin, then they all bailed for Sigil. The new team had to develop the Bazaar and new interface which Sigil's team was too lazy to code, all the while getting bitched at about "broken promises" even though it was Sigil's fault in the first place. Sigil's team also brought us "the Vision", which basically meant they didn't give a shit what the players thought about their game, because they had it all planned out from the start how they wanted it. The new EQ team started out in a hole and they've never been able to dig themselves out. They started off with a game that was already showing its age, and in the process of attempting to add new interesting types of encounters -- all the while having to retain balance on an outdated game engine that they didn't even make -- they fucked up and PoP was the result. Sure, they could have made a bunch of zones like Sebilis instead of PoP (woohoo let's fight through the dungeon til the bottom and kill the boss!) but then everyone would have complained about how they needed new types of encounters. Sure, they could add some new items with 25 more hp and mana than the current best ones, but people demand more interesting loots than that. It's pretty much a lose lose situation however you look at it, because the game engine can only support so much; and you have to keep balance in mind also. That's why we have these Dodge +2% mods that are pretty much completely worthless. But at least they're listening to player opinions and somewhat trying to fix it; Brad's team would have just spouted some crap about the Vision working exactly as planned. EQ was not originally created with level 65 480 AA characters with huge +riposte mods in mind. You can't necessarily blame the new EQ team, because they were fucked from the start. There's only so much longer they can add on to this ancient game engine before people lose interest (due to lack of new types of encounters and rewards) and balance is impossible. |

I can tell that your post is filled with all kinds of bullshit without even having read it; I only got as far as the line I quoted.
