| The one thing I will miss about EQ in future MMORPG's XML Skinnable UI....probably the best feature SOE put into EQ. Thomas Kings's skins are so well done....I will miss using his artwork to enhance my UI. I dont think any of the up and coming MMORPGS have plans to use XML skinable UI's. Thomas King's UI Artwork |

| I just liked the complete flexibilty the current EQ UI offered. From filtering spam to creating new windows to throw specified text into. I also liked the ability to alter the way the current UI was set up to suit my needs as a gamer. This was one of the few things EQ did right imo...give the players control over the UI. |

| eq2 EQ2's ui is xml based as well-in fact currently about 1/3rd to 1/2 of the ui in eq2 is EQ's. as they get the "new" ui windows done they replace the old window in game. swg wanted to use it but it was implemented too late. |

| I’ll miss the pve focused environment. All of the recent online games have an element of pvp (daoc, sb). Clearly, it is nearly impossible to balance players for pvp and pve. Any developer even thinking about trying pvp should look at the meager achievements of daoc and sb compared to eq, and the relatively low populations on the Everquest pvp servers. I’d like to see the results of a pve daoc server with a few dozen uber mobs. Allow people from all three realms to cross-team. |

+1 Internets | ... RuKidding -- What you said about PvP vs PvE... This is one thing that intrigues me about some upcoming games... I think Sony's idea of servers meant for PvP and servers meant for PvE is the only way to get it right... Should also have seperate servers with both. The tough part is balancing content, but I think that can be done the same way the old pencil and paper games did it... Mobs are restricted to the same classes/ abilities as the players, with very few exceptions. Those exceptions should also become available to players in the higher end. Case in point, if warriors at 65 could AoE Rampage, then alot of problems would be solved in EQ as far as agro and taunt go... Just would have to be instant agro for a set ammount of time on the warrior who did it... After, say, fifteen seconds passes, the agro returns to whatever it was before, but modified by the occurances during that 15 seconds. This would put the fight back under the control of the players while allowing for an element of strategy -- both things needed. I'm getting waaay off topic... Excuse me for that. Another thread should be posted on these things, but I'm too new to this house to start adding furniture myself, so I'll hold back on that. As far as the UI goes, I think EQ's custom UI via XML hit the bull's eye. The only reason it's not absolutely perfect is because it wasn't designed that way from the get-go. |

| while the UI pwns i have never been able to compile a set of things that I want in it. ![]() I will miss the fact that no MMORPG will ever end up having as much content as EQ. I don't think that this will ever happen because of competition and lack of a HIGE playerbase. |

+1 Internets | Yeah I'll give a hear hear for EQ's UI. Even if the EQDefault didn't suck, it's the flexibility and customability that's so awesome. Graphics, filtered windows, etc etc.. Some very good stuff and it's probably the one thing SoE's gotten right lately... Besides fixing those doors and spelling errors ![]() |
