| Top 10 things I Hate about You (EQ) I'm Curious, What would you say are the top ten things in EQ that bothered you most over the years; Mine are... (10) Finally getting out of Guk only to end up in Seb (Damn Frogs) (9) People using /shout as a raid channel (Especially if their INC messages was /shout "All Your %T, Are Belong to Us") (8) Complete Heal (I mean really, didn't that see a potential problem on or before day one of RoK) (7) /defensive disc (ditto) (6) Time Sinks, Zone Keys, TradeSkills, But Most of All, Quest Requiring Tradeskills, or other Time Sinks. (5) Game bugs then went months or years without being fixed. (4) Level three toons walking into a zone and looting weapons/items they didn't earn. (3) Overly powerful/rare items/spawns that people fought over like animals like J-Boots (think aways back), rubi, ragefire, pegasus cloak; or Items that undermined class interdependence. (2) Verant/SoE Trivializing something or another on almost every patch or expansion. (1) Alienating me to the point where I find it worth my time to complain about a game I don't even play anymore =p Ok, You Go... |

| 10. Any encounter post HoT farming early Velious. 9. Loss of community bond, back in the day I knew every upper level necromancer and rogue . I would zone into a place with 40 people and i'd know atleast 30 of them from previous grouping. These days I log on and look around to see a bunch of shitty equipped, level 62 noobs I've never heard of. 8. CS or the lack thereof. 7. Outdoor Kunark zones and the 55+ noobs they spawned 6. No more risk after old world EQ. Graveyards, cheap SC, safespots. 5. Lame ass nexus/PoK ports, I miss the thrill of finding a port bitch. 4. SoE packing up shit that should be free and calling it a new "expansion!!". 3. Hurry up and wait. 2. SoE apparent desire for everyone to have atleast one level 65+ toon. Getting 60+ is so easy now... 1. No more true newbies..I remember if someone in a SMR killed a Sand Giant at the oasis docks with ice comet /shouts about his uberness would go on 15 minutes after he left. Now aday you can crit for 5k on a fire beetle at the nek forest newbie log the level 3 necro there will be like "Whatever, my mains guildmate does that all the time".

| I hate everquest missing general sense and pvp. A druid can group with a necro, a sk summons corpses of a paladin and ranger camping treants.Sux,nonsense.Playing on sz for some time i can say it makes a whole better feeling if evils would be seperated from goodies.Of course the game isnt balanced well on sullon for that part. I also hate the pvp balancing, its just not fair mostly. Since i dont play so much anymore and rarely log on the 2 points above dont matter much anymore tho, it wont ever change anyways. To give you an advise, if you are unhappy with everquest and in a high level raid guild and just dont want to raid and accumulate loot anymore just to kill harder mobs to accumulate even more loot then cut down your playtime and try something new(i enjoy sullon alot for example).Quitting is hard, i tried it several times and now i am going the slow route. Just like a smoker who used to smoke 1box per day, then 15 cigs then 10 cigs then 5 cigs and finallly at some point Zero zip nada. Last edited by kasey : 05-16-2003 at 03:18 AM. |

| re The 10 things I hate about EQ? Heh, I just need one.... 1.) The countless hours I spent playing this stupid ass game.. Ok, now that I think of it, maybe theres 2. After playing other games, mainly DAoC, I absolutely HATE EQ's combat system. A 4 thumbed monkey could play EQ and at least be halfway decent. Push auto attack and stand there, or cast spell x over and over. Simply retarded. Can't believe so many people still play this shitty fucking game.

| Here is goes: (10) How Sony "Online" talks to its customers like they’re all 10 years old. "We'll be back on Wednesday the 14th with another Upcoming and with a message from John Smedley, who will have some special news for EverQuest players." Gee golly, some special news?! (9) Getting stuck underneath the world and waiting 7 fucking hours for a GM to log on and summon you to a safe point. (8) Buying their shit fucking "extension" specifically for the mapping feature only to have it released for free 3 months later. Give me my $21.99 back you fuckers. (7) How every other class seems better than the one I'm currently playing. Then I waste two months leveling up one of those other classes only to realize they suck as much as my original character. (6) Content that is "working as intended" that is patched 2 hours later. (5) How a green con mob can kick a melee's ass... if this thing can kick your ass so bad, you think that just maybe you might gain some combat experience off of it? Or how about when that fucking wizard mob roots you and can still hit you with melee attacks, but you’re out of range when you try to melee it back? Or how about those mobs that, when at low health, run under the fucking world and then start kicking your ass from nowhere? (4) How every exciting new "special" feature is designed for Ganndalphxx the fucking level 8 wizard. (3) Grinding exp. Now I HATE grinding. I'd grit my teeth and fucking grind grind grind until I reached 50th and then it was relaxing for awhile. Level an alt, farm some gear, work on factions, go on raids, etc. Kunark ships... again, grind grind grind ding level 60. Velious ships, sit back and enjoy the content. Yay. Luclin ships... Alternate advancement? That sounds cool! Grind grind grind, ding 20aa! AA, yeah sorta cool, when does this shit stop though? PoP.. more leveling AND more AA? Someone kill me before I kill myself. (2) How, as a company, Sony "Online" has managed to piss off its player base beyond belief, and continues to do so on a daily basis. Sometimes I forget if SoE is a gaming company or the Nazi regime they choose to act like. How they will never admit to making a mistake. How they always have an excuse. How they don't give a flying fuck about their own product. Whenever they put out a patch message or make a "special" announcement, you can honestly feel that they don't give two shits about you as long as you give them your $12.95 every month. You can tell they're going to drop EQ like a rock as soon as the money flow is gone. (1) No matter how many times I think I've quit, I'm always wrong. | To be continued I will have to complete this post in a few parts, since I can only remember a few at a time, but here are some of them. 1 - Ridiculous right click times. I will stay with the theme that SOE uses the formula: $$ = time spent playing. I remember 4 years ago, right click items didn't have cast times. I know the Pegusus Cloak made them change that, but NOT EVERY ITEM NEEDS A CAST TIME. Putting a 10 second cast time to summon bags on tradeskill trophies just makes me laugh, as if making it 2 seconds, or even instant would make characters too powerful? Puresteel Mantle.... Why oh why is there a cast time on this, warriors have ZERO channeling skill so anything with more than 1 second cast time will never channel while fighting, yet dain ring, that has a greater right click effect, is instant. 2 - Wood elf mask/Dark elf mask - 3 or so years ago, they removed the Guise of the Deciever from the game because "It cheapened the race" or some stupid reason like that. Now, 3 years later they put an identicle item in the game just with a different race. The logic is flawed here, are the people at SoE saying that it is ok to cheapen wood elves, but not dark elves? Tied in with this is SoE always removing the "fun" factor of EQ. Dark Elf masks were fun, Wood Elf crowns are fun... you get the point. 3 - Insanely rare spawns/drops. I know the only way Verant can make this game hard is by $$ = more time played, that is, by increasing the TIME it takes to obtain things of interest. I am sorry, but making a rare spawn only pop one time every 9 hours does not make it fun. Let us face facts here, almost everyone playing eq camps rare spawns and does not want to happen upon them by chance. I was camping obsidianwood Saps in Fire this week, and I am going on 14 hours for 1 sap.... now, tell me what is fun about that. 4 - Server Transfers. Why can't characters transfer with no drop items? What is the risk in that if they pay the 50 bucks. I know the reasoning given early was that they didn't want to disrupt economies on other servers, but how would one disrupt an economy with no drop items? I'll go back to: $$ = time played, for the most part, the longest amount of time played is spent equipping a character. That is all I have for now.... my bitching about useless AA's to follow |

| The worst thing about EQ can be summed up in three words: Competition for content. Cockblocking. Spawn-racing. Marathon camps for rare spawns when you daren't go AFK for fear that someone will steal your camp. Blowable spawns. All down to competition for content. Kreugen's thread on MMORG design is well worth reading. |
