+2 Internets | I know a lot of you are looking towards WoW as your next game, hell I am too, it just might take a while as they were saying at least 8 months for beta. Just curious have you guys checked out EQ2 yet? I know its by SOE.. but maybe they can do it.. maybe. Anyways, with these graphics, and if SOE can get their shit togethor, they should be able to make a kickass game, no? screenshots |

| yes, because as the history of the game industry has shown, graphics = great playability and content. the artists aren't the problem, most of the programmers aren't even the problem, the coprorate structure of SOE and the people who will ultimately be in charge are the problem. that doesn't change from game to game. |

| ... It sucks that WoW will be awhile til it gets released but I personally don't want to go through the same crap with EQ2 as most people have gone through with EQ1. Same shit just a different title. I like what I have seen from WoW and I am willing to wait for it. I will not be purchasing EQ2... why even bother if you know (from their track record) that it will all just fall apart and be shit. Who here would be willing to bet that EQ2 gets shipped completely finished? Ya I didn't think so. And plus even if I did start up EQ2 I know that WoW will kill any game I am playing at that time so why even bother building up a character in EQ2. I don't want to be that pumped about WoW but from all the screenshots, developer info, videos, company track record, graphics, storyline etc etc I can't help but be pumped about this game and its only in alpha. SOE is about to get a hard dose of reality when Blizzard enters the market. To all the SOE execs reading these forums (ya I know you guys do)... enjoy being #1 right now because it is quickly coming to an end. And thank god for that. You guys did a piss poor job keeping your customers. You deserve to lose this market. |

Yeah it does, at least in the case of Mythic. Before DAOC they had(maybe still do...) a bunch of little games, that people played. They had a small subscriber base, enough to keep them going but by no means making them rich. In one game, called Darkness Falls: The Crusade, they decided to do a huge overhaul and nerf things left and right. In the process they screwed up things and needed more programmer support.. which they promised would happen once DAOC was done. The day came and passed(i quit long ago playing it.. but know some people who did beyond that point) and nothing. They ditched their smaller games, and concentrated on the larger. Right now Mythic actually listens to their players.. while in some cases they shouldn't. I'm not saying SOE will do this, I'm saying that they may learn and change things, which I will hold to some small hope that they do, and if they don't, then fuck them. | Thing is SOE has proven that expansion after expansion they do the same shit repeatedly, and just dont learn a bit. You think they may suddenly change for a different game? They had multiple times to prove it... why fuck with people now and turn down possible consumers for EQ2 if they're gonna turn completely around then? |

| How many of you guys knew WoW had an upgradable graphics engine? You won't be screwed in having to go to WoW II or something like that.. not sure if EQII has upgradable engine but I'm not going to waste my time checking. I will never buy another SOE product again, they are money hungry fuckers, thats all. Basically if you were a dwarf, with one eyeball, and fell of a boat due to some stupid glitch, you were screwed for hours. If on the other hand you were a "pretty wood elf model" that the GM could wack off to, you would be taken care of. Blizzard has a great track record like most of you know, but for those of you who think EQII is going to be different from EQ, you are right, the graphics will be different, but graphics do not change the dumbasses who created the game. | ya they look ok.. but notice there is at most 3 pc/npcs in a scene, lets see how well it handles 60, pretty graphics are fine but if the game is unplayible due to them theres really not much point. Hell look at the game eve. (www.eve-online.com) I don't think i've even seen it mentioned here it's a new mmorpg based in space.. all pvp/player driven economy, sounds great, Looks fucking incredible, but the gameplay sucks cock and if you have 60 or 70 ships in the area it's turns into a nice screen shot generater and not much more. No one knows what eq2's gameplay is like, ss's don't mean shit really untill there are open reviews on the gameplay and the maturity (as in finished) of the content in the game one can only assume it will be as broken as eq. As for WoW, well blizzard has a track record of getting shit pretty finished before release.. there new to mmorpgs tho, (and don't you fuck wads go off on saying ooo but battle net this and battle net that, it's not the same, it's not a persistant world). I think it will turn out well, they've been more forth coming about what the game is like, and letting ppl test and speak about the game play is certainly a good sign. No word yet on endgame type encounters tho or how well it performs with large numbers of people (if there is even any reason to have large numbers of people). The graphics are of a completey diferent style obviously and it's pretty fuckin funny when ppl bitch "oh but they are not realistic" ya, sure, show me a real ogre you fuckwits. If the gameplay is there and the content is finished soe will be in big trouble regardless of the cartoonish graphics. |

+42 Internets | It makes sense that legends subsribers would be considered highly for beta, since by the fact of their 40 a month fee they are the biggest fans of the game, much like we used to be. Of course, after luclin and this crap with PoP, I think its safe to say that they are very much victims of blind love. ooo ooo trader class good idea SOE! slurp slurp slurp etc.. |

| You should note... They didn't only recently announce that Legends subscribers get this benefit. Part of the reason I tried out the server when it opened was because they said the longtime Legends subscribers would be the first to be picked for EQ2 beta.

Problem is I see beta testing seems to have lost a lot of it's meaning lately in the game industry. Betas become glorified promotions instead of something that is engineered to iron the bugs out of the system. Then again, it explains a lot about EQ... Dd | |

| I'm definately going to look into both of the games. Not saying I'll buy both, but I think it's worth it to look into each of them. Everytime I think I'm psyched about WoW I take a look at their forums and I quickly loose interest. EQ2 has it's hangups for me also. Time will tell. |
