cliff diving

I have heard a lot of people talking about how the only fun thing to do in EQ anymore is cliff diving, can someone explain why this is so "thrilling?"

I still get a brief "roller-coaster rush" jumping off a big cliff like PoAir tower, or inside the PoK elevator shaft, and fun to see how much falling damage you can take without actually 20k'ing. I know I've had a couple of 700s, but don't think I've had an 800. And running to LoY for the first time (2 weeks ago) I was chatting with numlock right after zoning into Paineel and came within a foot of accidently jumping into The Hole before realizing where I was going, slamming a right turn and regaining control. That was quite a rush really.

I used to have a character called "Yaeldonkey", an erudite bound at the top of the The Hole in Paineel and I'd repeatedly jump her in trying to see if Yael was up, and even once I found he wasn't up, I'd keep jumping in at least another 5 or so times splattering to my death, a nice little rush each time.

PoK elevator is instant 20k if you jump down the center of the shaft I think. Into the Hole is instant 20k, dunno about the PoAir tower. Jumping off the cliff into the water by PoStorms was always fun.

I remember you used to be able to 10k on the ladder to ass/sup in lguk... just stand in the midle of it for like 10 minutes then when u climbed down you would 10k heh... was weird. Think it was because of the way the falling system worked.

Try the dragon bridge in EW. It's more than high enough to 20k off of, but if you hit the water you don't die.

I fell into the Hole while chatting with the NumLock on. I think it's the biggest "Oh shit!" I ever had in the game.

Was even sweeter Divine Barrier'ng, jumping in, zoning, landing ,looting, popping Divine Aura, finishing the looting, and Gating out with 50 hp left tho

I don't know if they ever fixed it, but Paladins and SK's used to be able to fall any distance and live by activating holy/unholy steed right before they hit the ground. When you mount a horse, it resets your falling velocity to zero.... unlimited safefall in any zone where you can summon a horse.

something that is really fun to do Deep on the bridge on pvp servers.....

that knockback bow from velious.....just gotta be hit them so they fly off the bridge and not back on it.

I think the max non-fatal fall damage is 799, just a guess.

I remember falling from the top roof thingy fighting spiders in my very unpleasent stay in Velkator's lab, and I landed on the bottom, but on the pathway that was up about six inches. I fell for like 790 or something. Then I fell and landed on the bottom, but not on the raised pathway and 10ked.

Pulling there is fun though, I just jump off and run up, get healed, jump off run up, etc.
