| SoE shouldn't divide player bases It's a stupid freaking idea to put out Planetside, EQ2, and Star Wars: Galaxies in a relatively short period of time as planned. What if they made it a 20-30 monthly for an account that covers EQ2, SWG, PS, and EQ? That way people would play all of their games and then most likely gradually settle on one rather than having some games sit on shelves because people don't want to pay 4 15 dollar fees. Just an idea.

| Maybe because... EQ players aren't the only gamers in the world. Also they already have us hooked, they want increase their overall playerbase. Sony might have 1 million EQ players now, they can quadriple that number by releasing games that will draw in non-EQ players. |

| Well all of them are different types of games. If anything it's more of a divide and conquer strategy. If they're going to lose any playerbase frome one of their own games to another, i don't think they're going to complain. |

| Just from the perspective of business, I think it would be good policy. You still move game boxes on a massive scale and people to at least try a couple of games that they may have not tried, as opposed to making people choose between boxes and subscriptions.

| It's 3 completely different games. I only have a desire to play one of those. But sinse they are all MMO's, I'm not sure if anyone would have the time to play all 4 regularly. Hopefully it will bring new players to the MMO market. I think SWG will bring a lot, PS offers a new type MMO, and EQ2's graphics alone are bound to bring in some people who buy games completely on good graphics. |

The fact is that they obviously do not have enough people working on Everquest to make a good job. We are not even speaking about lack of ability to design a good game. Just the lack of man.hours just to design any game. Another fact is that SoE, in the good marketing tradition and logic, is stopping almost every investment and expenses in Everquest, which is a "milking cow", getting as much money as they can until the customers are tired of their bullshit, investing on future products. It might be the best thing for them. But they are showing their customer base an absolute lack of respect (and they have for some time...) They have different teams working on different projects... So what??? The fact is that they are not leaving enough people working on fixing/improving EQ (and I have the weakness to think that customers like EQ players would deserve a bit of respect, because of their dedication and so on...) and that they are spreading out their money on a lot of projects, when they could improve their core product... (not all their money, just something...) However they organize their teams, they have too many projects at the moment to make a good job on EQ. I hope for them they are able to make a GREAT job on their others games, cause it would require that (and, anyway it would not be enough...) to make me buy any of SoE future product. Never again. | |
