/agree, it was a dumb idea, the only thing I can see putting recommended levels on would be boss items (No 46s w/ Tunare items etc.)

No baelron, that is incorrect. What you described was how DS's worked for a couple days. This was unintentional. For a couple days, bards, clerics, and wizards could level up even faster because they all had unlimited target AE's. But now it's back to the way it was before. All DS agro goes to the environment. Which means it doesn't count at all.

I thought when they "broke" DS that the dmg was going to the person that cast the buff?

Go ahead and test the way it is now, I believe im correct.

Damage shields

Basically this is what I did to level up my cleric.

I took him to Castle Mistmore around level 14.
I cast Rune, illusion fire elemental, our 11 point ds, and a few other buffs.
I would pull a train, 15 or so Dark elves. Bring them back to zone in, ae stun and let my cleric ae nuke a few times to make sure he does some damage to all the mobs. Now I back him off and let all the mobs attack my chanter, who can take lots of hits with the 1500 point rune. I just chain cast rune till all the mobs died. Cleric gets all the exp (since he and the DS did all the damage). Now, I tried this the other day with a friends cleric, and it no longer works that way. So maybe I wasn't technical with how Damage shields work now, but apparently they don't work like they have been working for say... the last year or so. Gratz on nerfage.

this has all been changed in todays patch

bummer to this new DS bug was the best i took my dwarf pally from 1-22 in like one hour in Paludal

could cast a druid DS on him and let him stand there, mobs died and he got XP, he didnt even have to damage them

sure, he sucks, but its 22 levels i can skip

Ok I'll admit I didn't read a damn thing except the first post but... HELLO?!? You've been able to put group buffs on lowbies well before MGB existed and wtf cares anyway?

Another thing recommended levels on items does it drive down their prices horribly. I remember when I used to hunt in Tier 1 in PoP and occasionally you'd get this random drop off mobs you'd killed a hundred times. You were excited (of course you looked past the item restriction), wow! I might actually make 1-2k plat selling this to someone's twink! Only to find that because of how crappy it was for someone of your level that it was worth maybe 100plat lol. Level restrictions on items = richard simmons gay.
