Question LoY views

How are the high-end zones for loY? any good? Stopped playing EQ back in December but just looking for something to do, and thought I'd give EQ another shot if LoY was worth the effort - unlike the trail-long bullshit ride that PoP gave

or the majority of you still mulching through PoP?

Got alittle more info for me? heh while that sums it up, some details of its suckage might help - some aspects of SoL that people said sucked i accuatly liked

Many new mobs and/or zones?

They raise the level cap at all in LoY?

Outside of friends and guild xp grinds - is it a pure tanks nightmare to get into a pick-up group?

(In other words do the high-end LoY mobs dish-out and take in same sort of DPS that PoP content does? ..)

And ultimatly - they starting to let pure tank equipment drop more often? doesnt matter if its no drop, thats not really an issue - was just always a piss off with PoP, some good shit - but not really =/ plus alot of warrior stuff was pally sk warrior usable =p

if i get back into it sorta hoping for warrior-only gear, for sake of it being slightly unique...

That is mis-leading I think. Velious was this same way, but it had tons of content for all those level ranges.

Where as LOY has like what.. 4 or 5 zones?

Think of LOY as a "service pack" alot of new and neat utilities, but content is lax.

quite misleading

when you see 35-60 you might think this would include a Sebilis, or a Vex Thal, or a Ssra, or a Temple of Veeshan which all were level 60 zones...

It doesnt.

Only one zone (Hate's Fury) is fully blue at level 65 and it lacks the content of any of the above zones. At best it is equivalent to "The Deep" or the "Cursed Temple of Cazic Thule" only without the loot.

Most of the zones are more like lower guk or solB equivalents at best, which is a shame because the graphics and geometry of the zones are quite nice... just the level target and quality of drops make them empty wastelands less than a month since the expansion came out.

People go to the Ykesha zones to do the spell quests and to snag a charm of some kind and then they abandon them. You pay @20 for more bankspace, armor dyes and an improved UI.

I could have sworn it was almost as light blue as blue even in Hate's Fury but I could be wrong, have put great effort into blocking that experience from my memory.

As has been pretty much been summed up, they did a beautiful job with the new zones in terms of their mobs and looks etc. However, charms were poorly implemented and arent worth the effort to obtain for your average high end guild. The loot and such, likewise, doesnt really draw that many people to exp there over a place like CT.

Most people got LOY for the little features that dont actually involve the LOY zones themselves ;p

I think it really depends on the type of Guild you are in, or the Playstyle you prefer for what you will get out of LoY.

If you are in a high-level PoP raiding guild (3rd tier and beyond), then the LoY zones won't provide you with anything, except maybe farming for charms.

If, however, you are in a smaller guild, or don't enjoy PoP and the whole flag timesink that goes along with it, then LoY provides a nice change of pace.

There are a lot of triggered mobs/ events in these zones and the Named mobs drop surprisingly good loot (Not PoP good, but NToV quality good). It came as quite a shock to see Vengeance items dropping off of trash mobs in certain places.

As for raiding, there are really no places in LoY to bring a full size raid group. There are a couple of encounters where a 2-3 group mini-raid is appropriate and might also appeal to smaller guilds.

I've found the LoY zones to be pretty fun, for small-group to full-group running around. Loot quality is great for the difficulty, very reminiscent of Guk. Nameds pop up occasionally all over the place, only Hate's Fury loot is nodrop, and it's all worth wearing at it's recommended level, some far beyond that mark (29ac 45hp pants from a level 48ish mob). Respawn isn't hanusly long, or too short to keep you from moving through a dungeon if you want and can because you're good enough. Invis works except on undead. Slow works, mez works, snare works, charm works, etc, except on some obvious named. In other words, casual players can bring all the powers to bear that they've had since level 1. The availability of all these staples, that we've gotten used to having taken away in the last three expansions, makes the place seem very easy in comparison to other high-end dungeons.

There is nothing to raid. Don't look for it. There is nothing for someone post-60 with good equipment to put on. Shouldn't expect there to be, from an expansion expressly designed for 35-to-60s. That said, it's very well made for those that burn out in the Planes, or don't want to grind out OT-DL-PoD-PoN. People that get all misty-eyed for Guk and the Soluseks will be able to have fun here, and collect loot that sell, again.

The exp, btw, isn't terrible by a long shot, for all the appropriate level range, and into low 60s. 65s looking for aa exp should go elsewhere. The dark blues are WAY out of challenge range for exp bonus.

Being 65 not really any decent High end content. Mostly a farming expansion for 70% of the EQ population atm.
